Frightened myself silly because no-one seems sure if your insurance is valid with no mot - probably not. When the mot has expired you are only allowed to drive to a pre-booked mot testing station.

insurance is VOID if not MOT

UNLESS you are on the way to a pre booked MOT test

correct, all mot you get a sticker for window screen, not sure if they now by law have to put it there or not. I know when mine run out I just look at the tax disks  ;)

it doesnt VOID your insurance if your vehichle isnt mot'd, sure you cant drive it till its passed retest

but your policy isnt void the minute your mot runs out, wouldnt matter if i let the mot on my car run out and it then got nicked, still covered by its insurance

the discussion was about using the van with no MOT, in this case, the insurance is void if driven

my campervan has no MOT, but of course is still insured, but its not being used and is parked up

they would normally deduct 10% of the value of the vehicle if it had no MOT, as it was "un roadworthy" at the time. But it would still be insured (fire and theft - if you have that cover), but not to drive obviously.

Anyway, just checked my van MOT - due Wed's, got it booked in for today as im doing not much :D Hope it goes thru ok..
