two man pole set up
« on: January 28, 2009, 12:23:01 am »
hi there i was just thinkin, ive got my van mount set up for one guy and have just bought another pump and controller for a second guy to use, but ive just thought, i only have the 1 di vessel. now can anyone tell me am i best to just run it from the tap thru this and carry pure water in my 650 litre tank, or should i invest in another separate vessel so the two of us can work from the tank with normal water - purifying on the way out just before the hosereel? if so what size would u recommend, and where can i get one cheap?

plus, i only have one outlet from the tank, how would i best split it to the two pumps?
 thanks!

These guys are good.

I personally fill up with pure water so carry no di on van.  What's your tds from tap as running just di could work out to be rather costly in the long run.  Also running 2 di vessels together when filling a tank will ensure the water drops to 0 tds and the resin will last longer.

If water that had already gone thru RO/DI process then "finally" transferred to another DI vessel on van(as has just been mentioned) would the resin in the vessel last for.........like........months and months,if not a couple of years, as it's taking out practically zero impurities?????

It would last a lot lot longer.  The water comes out my ro at 2ppm and in 2 years I'm yet to use up 25 ltrs.  If it's 0 in the van and your just giving it a final polish the resin would last for years.  However you'd be taking extra weight in the van for no real reason.

ok, well my water comes out the tap at about 34 ppm, so the di is only just polishing off the last bit down to zero. however i do notice that i use more resin than some are suggesting. i change my resin about once every three months and i use about 300 litres per day, about 12 days per month. i figure that just more than10000 litres my resin is lasting. is that right? i find that when it starts to rise to about 5-10ppm, if i give it  a big shake it settles and i can use it again, i shake it a few times for fills and it lasts a couple of fills longer. thats how i get 10k litres out it.

incidentally, we used to use two backpacks which took 16 25 litre barrels which works out about 400 litres on our biggest day, so a 650 litre tank is more than adequate, even with the increased flowrate. i also just fill the tank in the van, why would i use a static system in the garage? is that when you need an ro system first?
i wish i could get two guys off the 1 pump, i have been told it can and cant be done, and im finding with my system it cant.
lee02, could you post a picture of how your system is set up? i find when i use one 100psi pump for 2 100m minibore reels it will pump to one pole but nothing to the other. how do you split the water between the two? i was trying a y splitter hoselock and it goes well out one side and a trickle out the other side of the splitter. so i think i will get another pump unless i can figure it out.
