yep, it was for me. I went to a local one, it cost me £9 for fried brekkie and I got a £30 job every 4 weeks, £25 every 6 weeks and £170 every 6 months. Also asked to quote on 2 other companies but I didnt get one of them and I turned down the other due to access problems. All of this is from just 1 meeting.
Make sure you bring some buisness cards with you and be prepared to stand up and introduce yourself and tell them what your biz is and what you can provide. Nothing too intense, just 60 seconds worth! Make sure you are professional looking with uniform if you have one and clean shaven.

Some people will comment that they havent had much luck with breakfast clubs though, and others will have had luck but really upto you on how successful it is

If its a network meeting then go because this is your chance to promote yourself. Take plenty of business cards though about 100 will do. But expect to come home with same amount from other people that will be in same boat as you. Promoting theirselves. Good luck.

When I did mine everyone was wearing suits but dont let that intimidate you. They are just like you. self employed people that only want to promote their buisness. It really isnt that scary, Im quite a shy person but it is the same as canvassing door to door. Not really much different.
If you prefer, why dont you say to the facilitator that you dont want to be first to introduce yourself. That way you can listen to how much people are saying and how long they talk for.

Well I will find out the info and why they chose me as this company is about 20 miles away from me and there are other companys from this forum who actually live in the same town as this company. Also they only allow one company from each trade to join so ill be only Window Cleaner, do you pay a membership if so how much is this normally or is it just the £8 brekkie, are these done once a month.

Depends....The one I went to had no membership fee and you just email them when you want to go so they know how much breakfast to organise. So you just pay £9 whenever you go.
The top one is called BNI and they are all over the UK and Ireland and maybe in other countries. My Sis-in-law is the assistant Director for BNI Ireland and she told me the UK prices are something like 4.5K per annum but she wasnt sure of exact price. BNI are alot better as they are bigger groups and one of the rules is you have to (try) to bring business for at least one other company every week. She told me that window cleaning would do so well as it is alot easier to get business. Alot easier than getting business for other business'.
Other Breakfast groups might have diferent ways of charging so do find out. but google BNI if you want more info on them.

aaahhhhh....I'm with you know!!  ::) Im a bit slow tonight!!!

Sorry, got the price completely wrong. It was about £450 and not 4.5K! I remember thinking that it was roughly the same price as the £9 a week brekkie club that I went to if you went every week (52x£9=£468).
My S.I.L would not mis-sell anything to me so I trust her advice. You can go to it as a visitor and you can see what happens. You dont have to sign up there and then if you dont want to.

So if you sign up you still have to pay for each week regardless if you go,

BNI costs about £500 for the year - you then pay £8.50 each week for your breakfast (cost depends on venue). You have to attend each week or you need to get a substitute to cover you.

You work as a sales team for the other members - they look for work for you and you for them - how many times has one of your customers told you they are getting married for instance? well thats referrals for many members in your chapter - photographer, florist, printer and so on. So all you do is keep your ears open.

I have been a member for 2 years and I have gained over 20K in work - from hotels to houses, nursing homes to public houses. If there is a good membership at your chapter (20-30 people) you will make money but there is a commitment both financially and time wise.

You get to visit twice with no commitment - go along early and chat to the members and see how you feel. Its not all suits - I wear my uniform as do the plumber, electrician and builder in my chapter. Its full of many different types of people so your sure to fit in somewhere.

Enjoy  ;)
