selling water

hi guys and girls

  a local window cleaner who after months of asking questions about wfp thinks he might like to get a backpack, so i showed him mine plus the ro etc and i told him where to get one from,now he,s asked me if he can buy water off me as he says he has no outside tap no drain for the waste,  (he can,t be arsed) so the question is how much is a fair price ?about 100 litres, 2 or 3 times a week.

I would say at least triple that, because the time you will spend filling his things ect and making the water would just be a pain in the bum imo.

I would say £8 for 100L in 4 drums tbh

Some guys charge £100 a month, but that's for the sort of volumes a full-time guy would use.
I would work out how much it costs you to produce water, factor in all the agro of making sure that you have enough for him and you. I guess you want to charge more than enough to make a profit but not so much that he goes elsewhere, unless of course you want him to!

Having someone fill up regularly is a bit of a pain, so make it worth your while.
I had a mate filling up cos his system was broken so I charged him a fiver a 400 litre cos I knew that if I did it for free, he wouldn't have any reason to get his fixed in  a hurry

Are you on rates or a meter? that will affect your price for water first

Then u have to work out your effort into sorting the water for him..

  • cover your water costs for the total amount of water (including wastage)
  • cover costs for your own time
  • cover costs for reduced membrane life, di etc for your own usage!

i would get what you can get away with personally , i think that £20 for a days water is reasonable. He can earn that in the first 20 mins then everything above his trad earnings from then on is profit

A mate of mine pays £50 a month for water and he fills his 400 litre tank each day, and theres also a local guy who charges the same and most of them have 650 tanks.

Then I will not be supplying it, to much hassle not enough money, A m8 I would help at free or long term at cost but they would be doing the filling

I am also sure as (have to say dirt) you would not do this all the time dude for that price it would cost you money if they obly used 100l a day in a back pack,


as to other posts 400 500 600l is a little different than 100l is would be a ballache pure and simple.

and someone is missing fosters imo  :P

I pay £2 per 20ltrs, some might think too much but the water is always 000 pure, as and when i want it no hassle. It suits me at the moment and doesnt really cost me anything because it is passed onto the customer

I've had a guy ask us for water, told him £10 per fill (250ltrs), he's happy with that.
