Count yourselves lucky!
« on: January 18, 2009, 05:28:47 pm »
Brother in law works for a local bed manufacturer who are in trouble, a big section of the workforce are from poland and live crammed in houses sharing the rent. They are voting for a wage drop to keep their jobs. If it goes through my brother in law will be taking home £180 a week! He's been there thirty odd years and will come away with about £6000 if the factory goes under.  :-\

Take your pick but i was thinking more of the brother in law.
Some days i only earn £100 and feel peed off. My point was £180 take home for a full weeks work is pretty poor don't you think?

We shouldn't have allowed all the foreigners to come and work here in the first place unless they are trained for a specific job.
They should have tightened up years ago and let the british people have the chance of jobs, especially in the construction industry.

The solution is to drastically cut the workforce i.e. send several of the poles home and reduce costs. But as the poles are the bigger majority they are willing to vote for lower pay which means the guys who have worked there all their lives will have to go with the vote. People on here who don't live in industrial areas and can brag of not getting out of the van for less than £25.00 are very lucky. Things are becoming worse every day.
I have nothing against the Poles it's the situation that looks bad for every one.  :-\

The thing is if the bed company got rid of the poles and allowed the british workers to keep their jobs, the majority of the british workers would work harder to keep the business afloat. We do live in great brotain...send the bloody foreigners home and let the brits have a chance.

It was on tv the other day...Anglia news...the polish community especially the younger generations are going back to poland because they now realise that they can no longer afford to live here....
What about the brits...we have no choice,we live here. They also said that because the economic downturn will eventually turn and things will get better then foreigners will return to work again.
So we have to get through the s.hit without them and then when things are rosy again we will allow them all back in....this country is a joke.

No you are right....some foreigners come over here who are a benefit to our society, but most eastern nationals see us as an easy turn, well they did and now they can bugger off again.

unless we learn and do as the Australians do ( only let them in if they are skilled in a job that they need )

of course this "downturn" isnt because of the cheap labour ( its afterall a worldwide downturn ) but they cannot have it both ways, here when times are good, back home when they are bad, then back again when things pick up

You say the downturn is not because of cheap labour...but it has something to do with it.
All legal workers (of which i presume there are some) on minimum wage and upwards can claim working tax benefits and child tax benefits.....this is a drain on our benfits system and increases the burden to taxpayers.Ok yes if a british person was in that job they would also be entitled to these benefits but they would also probably be coming off unemployment benefits.income support....
Foreingners are also a huge burden on the national health services, this has to be paid for somewhere...yes out of the taxpayers money...i know the foreigners pay taxes, but how long have they been here to pay it??
As has been said, make it like Oz...dont let them in unless they are required for their skills, and also make every foreingner who lives here pay a deposit in case they decided to claim benefits or use our health system, and then we have something from them as well.

I was speaking to a foreign worker the other day and was told that the exchange rate is killing them at the moment,

Alot of them send money home and the poor value is hardly making it worth their while.

Thats the same old argument mate....
There will allways be a lazy and scrounging element to any society...do you think poland has no spongers,no lazy sods....of course not.
The answer is what the government does to prevent this.Ok lets say that the 3 million that may be unemployed soon are all told that they have to go to work,no matter how meanial,no matter if it is basic wage,no matter if it is not what they are trained to do....but they have to get work that is available. If they are told that their benefits will stop if they dont then you just watch those so called lazy brits get out and do it.
The trouble is a lot of unemployed will not get the opportunity because foreign labour takes a hell of a lot of basic pay jobs, and then when they are not making enough to send back to their homeland they all want to bugger off.
Of course there are lazy brits, people who want a free ride, people who have no moral standards, but you tell that to the british man or woman who is out of work and has a family to raise,do you think they would jump at the chance of work.
The UK failed its own people many years ago when it opened the doors to this country, allowing basically anyone into the country who wanted a better life.Well what about the people who have paid into the tax system,or the people who have paid into pension funds,or the people who worked hard to buy theire houses just to have them repossesed and then be able to get council accomadation because foreigners are taking them away from the people who through years of hard work desrve them.
Dont tell me Brits are lazy when in times like we are suffering, with it only to get worse, many people are going through turmoil yet we still hand out benefits to foreigners.
This once great nation has been bought to its feet because of incompetant governments allowing this country to be used by foreigners for economic gain and by foreigners who come here and preach their religion and foreign laws.
Close the doors and sort the systems out and make them all pay for what they have...you watch how many will bugger off back to their countries if they had to contribute to the country what the majority of british citizens do.
