I think you need to develop a slightly thicker skin than the one you got now

Hello Chloe,
BDCS is right you probably do need a thicker skin, but also office manager is taking the p#=* out of date food are the staffs responsibilty not yours.

That is one point I go over in the walk through. We will wipe down the fridge but food is their responsibility. I think if I seen something moldy or obviously bad, I would probably toss it, but it is not my decision what is edible and what is not.

Hi
Just politely explain to this manager that the food belongs to someone, that is, it is their possession and throwing it away it not in your duties to do as as how can you judge if that person wants it throwing away and as it does not belong to you then you have no responsibility to dispose of it.
(long explanation, apologies)

The office manager should wind his neck in the mouthy sod. I recently left the navy and our cleaner would clean the fridges out but wouldn't ditch OOD food. We would be the one's getting a B***ocking from our watch chief if we'd left food in a fridge to rot.
I also worked at a place where if you actually ate someone elses food or indeed chucked it out, you'd be on a warning!
Tell him you'll completely ditch everything in the fridge on a Friday at the end of play!
Regards, Colin...

Our policy is to routinely clean the exteriors on kitchen appliances...
If they want the inside cleaned, it's by request and it's extra.
The fact that it's an additional cost tends to make them suddenly realise that they can look after it themselves.
The policy, if explained correctly, seems to be received okay.
A bit like the 'Clean desk Policy'
