Delivery hose split!
« on: January 07, 2009, 09:44:05 am »
Hi all :)

Just wondering if anyone can point me in the direction of some good, sturdy delivery hose, the stuff for transfer pumps? I bought a load from screwfix, but it just keeps splitting, pouring water everywhere... tis getting shorter and shorter!  :-\

Thanks :)

Chris

I use standard garden hose.

What are the benefits of using "delivery hose"?

Thanks,
Andy

I've just rung Alex (coming home early though as his dad's system has frozen up) and he says he's had the same hose for 8 years and despite it freezing/defrosting many times, it has never, ever split!

the ability to pump the water faster, larger diameter = quicker filling

Thanks for that, Mrs Alex :) I think the weakness in the hose I have is the flexible membrane (sort of thing) between the sections tears.... do you have any close ups of that hose?

Yeh its inch and a half diameter, or something, fills 500 liters in about 3 or 4 minutes.

Hi I've got back in now. I haven't got a close-up photo of the stuff (and I am not going outside to take one!!), but I do know that it is very tough stuff.

I have checked the Screwfix Site and the black stuff they sell is a very different product and is only really meant for static pond applications.

Thanks, might give it a look, just been out to fill the van tank... and lost another 3 feet of hose :( Along with spraying a gallon of water all over the inside of the van! The screwfix stuff is the green hose?

Whats the blue lay flat stuff like? Any good?
