Preparing for a cold night 3 different websites quoting between -5 and -7 , put my gas heater in the van thought i'll turn it on at -2 , 11.40pm and it's still 0 yet all these sites reckon it's -4 at this time ? , just checked temp guage in car as well just in case vans is dodgy but no same 0 !
This has happened before is there a realiable website out there ? using Met office, bbc weather and msn one.

Here's a weather report from Chepstow at 7.30 am; it looks cold; below freezing possibly, but not as bad as forecasted!

My back garden must be an ice-pocket, the thermometer was below -10.

I thought that when I looked out at the van.
It's just the sun melting a bit of the ice.
Have a look at anything in the shade, it's really frozen!

Here is another weather report from Chepstow.. :'(.

At 7am it was minus 6 to minus 7 depending on location  :(

Still well below freezing now, minus 3 at 9.55am and the van is in full sun...so probably more like minus 4.

About 30 minutes ago I cleaned the windows on the house I live in, water freezing up all over the place, on the glass in some parts, on the sills and on the floor.
Bristles on brush iced up as I was winding in the hose, and girlfriend [who works with me] has just checked out the van, and brush still all iced up  :'( so unless there is some way of preventing the freezing it's a day off al round..sigh.

Another forum member local to me (Tomo...not sure what he calls himself on the forum though) has found somewhere local we can get Isopropanol from (£50 for 20 litres) and he's bought some to try with his system.
Waiting to hear back from him to see how he has fared today.

If he is successful then it is a way to keep working, wil also be interesting to see if the isopropanol evaporates out of the water leaving the water to freeze on the ground....questions questions and not enough answers!!

Cunningly I thought that as WFP would be no good to do a couple of shops we had to do first thing, I decided to do them trad....but first to get some screenwash to pour into the water to stop the water freezing up on the glass....Tesco had sold out, non in sommerfield or the local spar, found a litre in a garage forecourt...but after losing an hour farting about finding the stuff it was still no sodding good...the water still froze up on the glass >:( >:(
Perhaps the stuff I got just wasn't concentrated enough....

Good news is that temperatures are set to rise from tomorrow, by Thursday should be about 4 to 6. So at least we can work in that.

ftp said it evaporates quickly, thus you would have water on the floor without ipa in, thus back to the same old problem

Perhaps Matt, but I want to see for myself, don't forget, the water also evaporates too, the one will effect the other....need to see for myself exactly what occurs!!

If it does freeze on the floor then its back to salting the ground prior to washing windows.

But I also want to see if this stuff stops the water freezing in the hoses and on the bristles of the brushes and so on, and also whether the required dilution rates work out as being cost effective.

It looks like it's really warmed up here now; I should really get working; but I'm off to walk the dog.

FAO Ian_Giles,

Sorry I didn't reply to your text; it takes me half-an-hour to reply; but no, I don't want any Isopropathingy.

Cheers anyway.

It was -7 hear last night and the paths and road where i live still have snow from yesterday and now its frozen.

Did go out this morning done two windows trad and the water was freezing as i was squeeging it off.

Took dogs out for a walk a couple of hours later and bumped into another window cleaner.

I asked him how he's getting on and he said he only just started and now going back home as he slipped over on his arse before he even did a window.

There's always tomorrow

-10 on the moors tonight. I overfilled my van tonight and it's run down the drive onto the pavement so I've had to leave warning bollard out and grit everywhere so no one slips up. Can't open my van side door now as it's frozen up ;D
