can anybody please give me rough list and prices of things i would need to start carpat cleaning ??? thanks

Nelson,

1st and foremost get yourself on a training course, this will not only show you the correct way to conduct carpet cleaning but also what equipment you will need.
Regarding cost, presuming you already have a van I would say anywhere from £5k to get set up, £200 of which will get you training :)

i personally believe you can do it a heck of a lot cheaper than 5k.  i have just about everything that i need and it cost me less than 2k.  personal preference as to what you decide you need to start with, i guess.........

cost me 6k that was with 40000 leaflets aswell to start but could of done with 10k really for everything

we have spent over 5k so far and still spending :'(   Advetising  seems to be a ongoing expense  . so keep some in reserve for that

Look as a start up over a period of time. Take into account expenses over that time when income will probably be quite low.
Think about cost of very decent van, machinery, training, equipment, tools, chemical, advertising, printing, stationery, insurance (vehicle & business), phone etc.

I would consider a realistic figure to be 25K

you will need a Transit size van, dont buy small,you will need to upgrade and of course loose on your iniatial purchase, as with the other responses, the most important thing to do is get some training, 2 full days will be a good foundation to start with, and i would say a good start up budget would be in the region of £25k, dont forget you will need a lot more than just a machine, insurance, printing, add cost,s and so on, good luck

Sorry to be facetious how longs a bit of string.  You don’t supply much info do you!

Training first nearest to you is Alltec or Ashby’s but not forgetting Prochem (did hear a rumour Mr RT may be doing some courses if so that’s the one I would go on)

Are you looking at new or 2nd hand equipment (word of caution a fool and there money are soon parted)?

What is your intended target domestic or commercial?

A part from above make shore you have a lot of £ put by as it will take time to establish yourself.

If going with a porty then you can get off the ground for about 3k. + the cost of a decent van.
If you guys are quoting 25k startups you have to be talking truckmounts,or you were robbed when buying your portable equipment. :)

I would say that 5k is a good estamate. It cost me about 6k to start up and the ongoing advertising is very expensive. So be ready in the early days for a great expence in advertising.
Get yourself on a couple of training courses this will help.

25k is not talking about t/m its just a realistic figure, that is of course if you are going to do things in a professional manner ::)

This figure is made up of cost of new proff quality machine,s at least a twin vac porty a few turbo dryers, 2 sets of hoses, a decent stock of chemicals, and all the other pieces,adverts,leaflets van costs, and not forgeting a bit of cash left in the bank, you wont earn good money from day 1!

A lot of new start ups go to the wall in the first 6 mnths, owing to poor cash flow, budget and do your figures :-[

If this sounds negative, well i am not sorry :) life is like that,to make it work,you have to do more than buy a cheap PORTY :P
