Canvassers usually charge 2 or 2 1/2 times what the job is worth monthly, but you will have to work out beforehand your pricing structure ie £1 a window or whatever your'e happy with ..

Also you have to have a guarantee in place so that if you get  cancellations then the canvasser will have to replace them.

Another thing to consider is access issues ie locked gates , terraced houses etc etc. Im speaking from experience on that believe me!

The main thing is trust between you and them.

My canvasser always gives me a list of customers including their name, address and phone number, so i can ring them to confirm that they are happy to have their windows cleaned on a regulat basis

And lastly get them to explain WFP (if thats what you use) so you dont have to waste time explaining it!

Hope that helps a bit

Cheers Dave

Another thing you can do is advertise locally for someone and pay them a basic wage + commission?

I use the girls at roundbuilders, couple of nice looking ones there if thats what your looking for!!  ;D
But i always get good results from them. I get the list of customers, with the name, address, number, how regular the customer is, how access is ie good, bad, through gate, garage ect ect. Customer signs a carbon copy so there is no issue of whats been agreed. Three clean cancellation as well.

thanks for the tips,,,to tell you the truth i would,nt  have botherd trying to drum more work up,but due to the fact i,m about £350-£400 down a month because of people cutting back and all that, also where i used to get about 3-4 new customers a month i find i,m lucky if i pick up 1 every 3-4 months,i would also conscider buying work....so if anyone has to much work around the southend area then please give me a call....thanks,,,,kev

Unfortunately these round building companies are mainly based in middle england. So for those up north, scotland, wales etc it can be rather expensive to put them up in hotels etc.

Otherwise id consider using them. But as it is i dont have the resources to do it.

For those that hire guys to post flyers, how much do you pay is it per hour, per '000 flyers ??

About 15 years ago I got 2 decent sales reps who I knew from the local pub who had been done for drink/driving and paid them to go out and get me houses. I told them a rough price and paid them the price of the first clean when I had done the houses and been paid.

It worked a treat, they being pro sales reps got good prices, as it obviously improved the money.  They got me 200 houses and quite quickly.
