leaflets! MMM WHY?
« on: January 03, 2009, 09:37:43 am »
theres been a lot of threads and posts on flyers lately, and over the past few months, i have dropped lots of leaflets at targeted houses, and to a degree its worked, infact in one area i had a success rate of 16%, but this was coz i hit the right area at the right time . :P

bbut generaly the successrate is much much lower.

anyway the reason i opted for the leaflet method over knocking doors was becoase of finding the time to do so...as i still do some collecting in the evenings.......so last week with it being the festive season , i only worked untill 2pm and then i spent an hour door  knocking...
so in total last week i spent 4 hrs door knocking.... the result...

14 NEW JOBS...
as wwe know that isnt particularly impresive...we all did it when we started up, iv had times when iv found that many in an hour or so of knocking....

anyhow the reason for my post is that i am going to stick with doorknocking from now on and just leafleting the ones who are out.  so from now on ...NO MORE COLLECTING FOR ME!
JUST KNOCK KNOCK KNOCK!

i'll knock doors myself but i can hardly get my 13year old daughter and dare i say it the mrs to. they do the leaflets.

Having said that i need to do another cull of customers now its new year, so think ill be doing some more knocking, not that i really need more customers, but i want to concentrate on te areas ive got!

By te way hope u all had a good xmas and Happy New Year all!

You could try telephone calling, some companies sell the telephone numbers of every one in certain areas, you call and ask if they are interested in a window cleaner.

It the same as door knocking but without the walking.

The response might not be as high as door knocking, but it should be better than leanflet drops.

Done Telesales in apast job years ago, its a hard sell!

Door knocking is great because your potential customer gets to meet you and that can be reassuring, especially as they are meeting with the main person

this is the point of my thread...you meet the person and with a freindly face that they can see you give them your pitch....but also you meet them, and with time and experience you can become a good judge of charachter, and you will know if they will be a goodun or not.

leaflets have their place ..and i will always use them, but for rapid growth door knocking is best.  so for those with full rounds like me, the way to progress  further and quickly is to free up time to go door knocking.... ;)

I don't agree. It costs £20 or £30 per thousand delivered. You only need a few good ones to have paid for the cost. (Plus the cost of the printing)

I always think of a £10pm job as £120 p.a. Leafletted customers are far more reliable than knocked up customers.

I must admit it only happened once but I paid £60 and got back a £300 one off job plus about 2 X £12pm jobs. That is the worst response I ever had because I look for regular work. The £300 job saved the bacon and is biggest one off i ever had.

I would have rather had £60 pm of regular work

I have spent £80, on various occasions,  on leafleting before and picked up loads, maybe £1500 p.a. of work, sometimes £300 odd p.a. .   I t just depends. If you don't try you don't get

You can spend the time that you have saved doing what you want. Door knnocking, pocket billiards, collecting whatever.

I would rather go to work and stop in the warm at night.

Good for you.. I thought "ay" was scottish.

I don't understand what you say. You can get what you want either by door knocking or leafleting.

Depends how many doors u knock and or leaflet.

Some people like knocking, others leafleting. What is the difference?

It is all work.

I used to spend a lot of time in S Wales. In fact lived in Milford Haven for 5 years. Still do a little bit. My son has lived in Pembrokeshire for 15 years. Lovely people. I only ever experiencied anti englishness and everyone else,  in Carmarthenshire( lots of times). But otherwise  I really like the welsh.

My son has english parents, but went to Pembs at 8 yrs old. He got high marks at O level at Welsh but still can't hold a conversation in it.  He said it is really hard and anyway in South Pembs, where he lives no one much speaks it.

Anyway have a nice new year. All the best,
Paul

just went out and knocked on 18 targeted houses.....i got 4of them, 3 of them all together.
thats 18 new houses this week,.....

my target is to increase at a rate of 5 new ones a week.
but that figure also includes leaflets and recomendations , but door knocking willl be my main method.
