iv only got about 32 houses on my books plus i few i go n do if i can be bothered my average house prices works out at £17 just wondering how this compares to others i live up in the north between liverpool and chester.

iv got to get out there canvassing but can never be bothered and build up my round!!!

iv put a lot of mine on 8 weekly coz im sick of turning up and the windows still gleaming.

If that is on a mixture of all sorts of properties that is a good average.

Do you WC part time with another job?  Coz if you don,t get out there and canvass like crazy. Just think...  15 per day @ £17.00 is £255 gross per day. That is good money in anyone's book.

Sorry but so what if the windows are still gleaming. If you can keep them on 4 weeks do it.  You will only need half the customers then.

Sounds to me like you are not a very motivated person.
If £17 avg per house cant get you motivated i dont know what will,there would be many a wc (on here and all over the uk) who would like an avge like that.
As Andrew said 15 per day gives a very nice income indeed,well above the avge of what most wc's take...so get out there man a do the right thing...

i know its pretty irrelevent i was just on window cleaner pro n noticed i had 32 houses with value of 500ish n worked out the average im quite happy with that amount was just seeing how it fared compared with other peoples prices.as a lot of window cleaners round mine are trad cleaners and not legit and price low.

im not part timer iv only been going for 3-4 months had van stolen with first system in and had a few other personal problems of late thats why i havent built it up as big just yet new year gna really go for it.

the houses do tend to be larger detached properties some with conservatories that is wat im trying to aim for by offering a better service that people can trust etc which is wat a lot of the more affluent people are after but there are a few that are semi detached or bungalows.

i didnt mean for this post to be an earnings post as such no 1 has to say how many houses they do just wondering wat they averaged out!!

I'm not being funny mate but why exactly did you get into this business?

You can't be bothered canvassing, you hate turning up and the windows still look clean, you have a tiny round but can't be bothered building it up, and still your average house price is very good.

Did you become self employed so you could please yourself whether you even bother to go to work??

Give your round to someone who can be arsed to run it properly; your customers deserve better mate!

I do agree but if you have a very mixed customer base comprising of everything from small terraced to large detached the average price does have meaning. I used to keep a close eye on that as a barometer as to how we were doing and found that as it increased so did the hourly rate. My figures were almost exactly the same as yours Scud.

i agree that it has a meaning. if your pricing is consistent with the windows on each house then you should get an accurate measure of what can be done in a day (depending on how spread out the work is) my average house price has gone up by nearly £2 in the last 6 months so i'm chuffed with that. it means i'm getting more of the bigger property's on board

  I know where you are coming from Andrew, but I did say to me at the end.

  I used to know my average job price, I suppose I could work it out very easily if I loked at George, but as i said, it isn't important to me.

  I have enough work and work on daily/weekly and monthly minimum targets which I seem to hit and will be increased in the new year when I take on another round and a part time employee.

I became self employed so all my effort rewarded ME and not someone I was working for. To be honest I find it much easier motivating myself now than I ever did working for a boss.

It's true that being self employed enables you to take time off if you need to but I still work full time; I like the money I earn too much to skive, and that's after seventeen years too.

as for not being motivated to run my business i dont think your in a position to slag me off as you dont know wat else i do i have been targetting commercial businesses of late sending hundreds of letters off driving round industrial estates writing down each company i just said i havent been bothered to go out canvassing on houses.

Nope... i work all the hours i can... full days...

its nice to know i can take an hour out if need be...here and there... but i will never do  9am.. 1pm 2pm etc.

some of my best paid work is on £5 terreaced, can do nearly ten in an hour, compared to bigger houses at 10 -15 but might only do 2-3 ,  so average is an unfair reflection really, a commercial company might have just offices and average 100 a building, but its no reflection on whether they are priced right or not, so i think average just shows you clean big/small buildings, not how long it takes, or how long you work, many will do £5 houses, but work all day and do nearly 200 in a day, others with 20quid houses might just do 5 and go home!!!

thats fair enough mls, I became self employed for the very same reason in that my efforts were previously rewarding someone else. I am probably different from most on here that I dont like money enough (I despise it) to work long hours and get as much of it as I can. I would'nt call having time off skiving, I'd call it living  
Unfortunately, I dont live in a remote rain forest somewhere in a cashless society, so i work when I need to and not when someone wants me to.

eh? If i do 6 offices and you do 6 terraces, our averages are going to be pretty different, and the amount we earn will be pretty different too

or you mean on my domestics   Its easier to over charge a small house that should be say 3.00 to 5.00, rather than sticking £££'s on semis, most of my work is what i bought when i started and although priced good, they aren't a pound a window, when i get new ones i stick as close as i can to that however its hard sometimes ooop north as many wont pay for eg. £20 for a 3 bed semi, you are doing well at ten to 15, alot round here average £5 on 3 bed semis which is ridiculous but there you go, but they will still probably do £20 an hour, better than an office job    so its swings and roundabouts, but not of my work earns me less than 25 an hour trad and thats plodding really, if i step on it and god forbid sweat a bit i can easily stick 5-10 more an hour on but no need too usually.....so im not doing too bad

really i'm talking about domestics being consistent in price. i would price offices in different ways on time rather than per section especially if there is a lot of glass. domestics on the other hand are all priced consistently per pane of glass so the average daily takings always amount to the same taking roughly the same amount of time each day

You say they won`t pay £20 for a 3 bed semi,if you said to them clean those windows and i`ll give you £20 they`d say you must be joking half of em.
