business breakfast network clubs
« on: December 14, 2008, 11:19:34 pm »
i went along to one of those business breakfast clubs last week in chester and found it quite interesting got a couple of leads and had a nice brekkie for the price of a tenner.  there was only about 14 people there so im not sure if there are other meeting where there are more people from walks of life.they tend to have one person for each career/trade and people pass on work to one another.

does anyone else go along to these and had any good work from them???

Sounds like the BNI network. There over here in Ireland too. I went to one as a guest got a job but haven't been back since.

Its a very early start and you can only miss something like 3 times in the year or your out.

You go once a week, £10 a time for brekkie. £520pa.  Much to  early for me as both branches that invited me were7am to   7.30am starts.  There are some threads on this. Some blokes have done well, others crap. I remember one chap said he loves the breakfasts but never gets any work.

I went to a couple of meetings at our local business club last year cost £14 which included a 2 course hot meal. The last one I attended was the networking night where all the business clubs in West Midlands come together. You make sure you take about 200 business cards with you then away you go mingling around room introducing yourself to everyone and giving your cards out etc. I got 3 big jobs from that evening and also loads of business cards from everyone else.

Yep, I went to one last year. £10 for full fry up, about 15 other people there from all different business'.

From that one meeting I got one small industrial unit for £25 every 6 weeks (20 minutes max), £30 for some offices every 4 weeks (20 mnutes max) and a large industrial unit every 6 months for £175 (4 hours max). I was also asked to quote for 2 different industrial units, 1 I didnt get and the othe I turned down due to difficult access.
I have been meaning to go back there again but will start in the new year.

Sounds like the BNI network. There over here in Ireland too. I went to one as a guest got a job but haven't been back since.

My Sister in law is the Assistant director of BNI Ireland. She keeps telling me to sign up as Window Cleaning is probably the easiest to get work for (BNI says you have to 'try to' bring work for one other business to every meeting). Will join up for that next year here in the UK

I just tried googling Isle of Wight Breakfst clubs but didnt find anything. Then again I only looked for a minute. Might be an idea to look on the business link website or contact them. They might know where to find one or ask your accountant if he is a member of one.
Another idea is to ask in local hotels if they host any

Join the round table, same thing and you get to do a bit for charity. ;D

you are so correct with that

my best mate was in the table then joined the masons, its allmost like the next step up

his table days were great, he got all his work from the table guys, then he joined the masons and went on up in the world, at his peak he had 30 bloke on for him, all the work was from the mason and the table

I'm a Mason, but I have never used it to further my business, but I have picked up the odd job.

It really isn't about business.

my best mate built his entire biz on the back of the table and the masons, he is the first to admit it

he has asked me to stand, but i was never really sure about it

My late father-in-law was a long standing mason, and he asked me to join, I knew nothing about it when I joined, but it has turned out to be one of my better decisions.

If you would like to talk more about it, it might be better by email rather than hijacking a thread.
