Yes I've got someone who wants to work as and when, he's a retired BT engineer who I take out on jobs, BT engineers retire at 60 so he's not doddery.

Brave man. It must be possible though, and at some stage you're earning without wanding.

Hi

I agree with Shaun that the best was to get next year going is Database & Leaflets.

Why would you do that shaun. It doesnt matter how busy you are, you will cut your total work load in half putting a new van on the road.
This type of business is not scalable like most others. Another van is an option when you are turning away more than 50% of enquires.
A business expands to meet demand. Not expand then create demand.

My plans for jan are 20,000 leaflets. And send out brochures to resaurants, hotels, B&Bs and get the last six months of work on the database and write to them. If that doesn't work I'm going to panic very loudly.

This business to some extent is seasonal so the first 6 months of the year isn't as 'phone busy' as the second 6 months.

I turned down or can't do work all of the time so to fill the gaps a part time van will be used and also to go into pressure washing I can service my customers with another add on.

Excellent, I've got 5th - 7th booked but nothing between Xmas and New Year as I'm having a break, hopefully I'll be driving around in my new present that I wrote to Santa for, or I could get those boxer shorts again :'(

Why not have the other guy dueling along with yourself, you would be twice as productive, you have a buddy to talk to, you dont have to pay for a second van and can keep a beady eye on his work.

He's pay as you go ok I'll have a van for him but he's casual and is happy to be and doesn't want a 40 hour working week every week, also you can be too quick at peoples homes.

The purpose of him is to sweep up the customers that want a job doing quickly and also pressure washing, he can do a £150 job at 10am in the morning and be back home for 1pm, he gets paid I get profit and a customer for later.
