X-TEL POLE. (help please)
« on: December 12, 2008, 05:07:36 pm »
dOES ANYONE KNOW IF I CAN PUT SOMETHING BEHIND THE CLAMPS TO MAKE THEM TIGHTER... Oops , shouting.

As my middle section slips so bad now... i have tried varnishing the pole.... dont ever try that , it was a nighjtmare to get off again... as it stays tacky.

i have smeared araldite thinly and evenly... that lasted  a week.

i cannot afford a new one at this time of year...

has anyone successfully repaired one.... next step is engine stuff i think, but dont know if it works on these poles.

Thanks.

Remove the clamp handle and ring. Put a little araldite on the outside of each of the four plastic prongs. When fully dry re-assemble. The clamp will now grip much harder.

Alex do you sell replacement clamps for the X-TEL, its not the 24 footer I got off you last week, but I was wondering about replacing the clamps on my 17 footer.

On our website you can buy the handles, the rings and the clamp collars. The clamp bodies only come bonded onto the pole section (which you can also buy on-line).

The method above will extend the life of most clamps very effectively.

I have never used the eXel, does it have the same clamps as the Harris?  I have posted a couple of times on how to stop the Harris clamps from slipping, just wrap a piece of plastic made from a pop bottle round them and tighten up.
