black dye on cream leather
« on: December 09, 2008, 07:40:43 pm »
Looking at a suite next week, where the lady had new black jeans and has sat on her cream suite, now the cream suite is black from the dye.

Any one knows if it can be removed and how?

This is a classic case of dye transfer.  You need to firstly clean with Maxi Cleaner which is a strong detergent cleaner. This is the strongest cleaner that can be used safely without damaging the finish on the leather.  If this does not remove the dye then it is not a cleaning job but will need some form of restoration work and may need recolouring.
Any product that 'guarantees' to remove the dye can only do so by removing the finish on the leather which will then need replacing.
To help inhibit this problem from happening again use Ultra Protect which will act like a scotchgard and make cleaning easier.
Give me a ring if you need any further advice.

This is how it’s done, to remove jean dye transfer from non-absorbent leathers.

#1: Non-absorbent pigmented leather Natuzzi® armchair.

#2: d’Ink7.7™ application.

#3: Dwell and agitate.

#4: Extract, clean with clean3.8™ and acidify rinse with rinse3.0™.

#5: Finish with leatherScent’B™ - a non-stick buttery feel conditioner with the unforgettable classic leather scent.

#6: Bleaching option with bleach10.3™.

#7: Finish after neutralizing with acidifier2.0™.
