I personally hate collecting, but I think it's a necessary evil.  I've tried the SAE thing and it didn't work for me.  Many customers; even the good ones; were just too slow to post the cheque.

Just like the majority of commercial work I do; slow to pay.

I still do SAE, but only for my rural domestic customers; who seem really good at posting the cheque!

But I've two estate areas; each is about five days work and well paid; though tough going; and in both places I can basically park up and walk round collecting.  I normally do this on a Saturday morning about two-or-three times per month.

It works for me and stops me stressing about getting the bills paid.

Just back from collecting. Drove 30 mile round trip for about £60.00. Went out far too late, after 6.30.  Lesson learnt dont try Oaps after about 7 or they wont answer the door in the dark. Thursday evenings are def better than Fridays. Many people were out.
Still better than relying on cheques through the post, as my outstanding payments were beginning to mount up big time, and cos of xmas and poor weather got cash flow probs at the moment.
People just aint posting cheques like they used to.
