I have a question for Glen.
I may be interested in buying a 30ft or 36ft pole for gutter jobs from you. I have an Ionics upkeeper and am happy with it because it's compact and runs on diesel, but I'm not happy using the awkward 3inch tubing lengths. Would you be able to make a connection to fit the end of your pole that connects to the 3inch tubing of an Ionics guttervac. If you can, would you email me a price please

Car no too small to carry the vac, hoses, attachments, poles etc.. Van and trailer yes.

Market it like you would any other service. Praise its benefits to the customers show what is so good about it, and what it brings to them.

I actually meant a van or a trailer  . Would a van or trailer not be big enough on their own? I was thinking of getting one or the other anyway to accomodate a water fed pole system.

Can anyone give me an indication of the approximate size of a van or box trailer to accomodate both (say a 650 litre tank and then the associated poles brushes and omnivac). If a van, it would need to have as small an engine as practicable as motor tax goes according to the CC in Ireland.

We recently installed a complete window and gutter cleaning  system into a small wheel base VW transporter which in carrying capacity is smaller than a SWB transit. Their are photos somewhere on here thsat we posted in the last week.

Hi Glyn, yes I'm back, it's me (Wayne), thank-you for doing the Upkeeper attachment, I look forward to using your gutter vac pole. Keith should have posted details of your new camera system in with my pole. If he hasn't, can I have details of your new cam coming out. Providing my tax bill aint too high, I should be able order the cam Jan with a bit of luck.

I like the convenience of buying a ready-made system but I'm unsure if the premium is worth paying.  I'm interested in the omnivac in its own right but I'm thinking about a comprehensive van mounted system consisting of hot wfp, gutter vacuum, generator, pressure washer etc. I really wouldn't know where to start sourcing the components.

Does anyone know of such a system? If so could you send me some photographs and information as to whether  it's DIY or ready-made. Is there a definitive guide to building your own comprehensive system?

Have a search around on this forum. As for building one - there is nothing to it, just a case of sticking a flexible hose into the vac one end and a tube the other, if you can Hoover the lounge carpet then you can build and operate a vac. The Omnivac might not work out that much dearer - it's when you compare generator prices and camera prices then you will find big savings. If you are unable to join hose to pole then buy the ready made package. There's not much choice of poles really - either Omnipoles own or Gardiners Superlight carbon sections - neither are cheap.

I already have but there seems to be so much conflicting information. I suppose what I really need is a 'halfway house' between true DIY and a branded system i.e. a spec. for me to source the parts and then someone to fit it.

Glyn (Omnipole) just letting you know the adaptor is a very tight fit but perfect size for Ionics upkeeper to your pole, thanks. Didn't get the info on the camera coming out so any chance you can email it or post it on

The conflict comes from either Omnipoles number one fan or Glyn himself (obviously).
Chap called Kev has been very successful with the real deal making good money and is an obvious publicity model for Omnipole so anyone building their own tends to get crucified. Just have a good look and decide for yourself. If you are going all out for the big commercial jobs and think your going to be a big player then just buy the ready made version. The differences are pretty small at the end of the day, Omnipole have a straight inlet to "increase the vortex effect in the chamber" - more likely to stop twigs and pine needles from jamming i would suspect.

Have a look on their gutter cleaning site and you will see their original one used a pole with the hose attatched to the outside of the pole. The newer ones use the actual pole as a suction tube. Don't know if both poles are the same.
