Brush head opinions
« on: November 26, 2008, 07:47:59 pm »
Looking at getting The Super-Lite Brush Dual-Trim Flocked Bristles from Gardiners, but ive only used ionics brush heads with the stiff brushes (dual trim).. what are your experiences with dual trim flocked bristle heads? Or just flocked heads in general?

Just a one night thread, as im on the verge of ordering...

not sure about the flocked brush but Ive used Alex mono version both single trim and dual trim i use nothing else than his brushes , you name it Ive tried them all that our out there from vikan to Bentley still got a old ionics crinkled that gets used on con roofs or first cleans only cleantech yellow flocked brush even got a hogs hair brush in the garage, i will say Alex seems to no a thing or too about the brushes needed, I'm interested to see how his flocked goes, i just ordered some resin from him and was tempted to add the flocked brush but i thought i would wait till after Xmas , since i still got a fare few brushes still in the garage.

i have used the supalite double trim since the release,

excellent brush, rinses brush on like a dream, not sure what the new flocked version will be like for brush on rinsing,

flocked brushes as a rule hold dirt, but some say they have greater cleaning properties, esp for really dirty cleans,

might get one myself , to try on 1st cleans, (where i rinse brush off any way*

The black flocked brush from Gardiners is the best flocked brush you will ever use,it has all the qualitys of the vikan brick but with no weight.

Hi Chris,

I emailed you a response to your query this morning, did you not get it?

Here it is:

Hi Chris,

I do agree with you that the 'look' of the black bristles is better. The only reason though that the flocked version is in black is because that was the only colour we could source the flocked bristles in.

If we put aside how the bristles look, then white bristle are far better for the professional window cleaner. White bristles allow you to quickly assess how much dirt is trapped in the bristles and adjust your technique/rinsing to allow for this. If the bristles are holding dirt then really you need to know at a glance and deal with it.

Flocked bristles being black do not matter so much as most users rinse with the bristles off the glass.

We are considering producing the mono-filament in black fairly soon for those that like the black bristle, but are not so worried about assessing dirt levels.

Got one on my desk  :)

i actually prefer the white brissels, you can tell how dirty a window is by looking at the brissels.

mine is still white now , gets very dirty at times , but with extra flow and rinsing ,soon returns back to white,

custys even comment on how clean it looks, ( they must think to themselves," if the brush is that clean , my windows must be ) ;)

With hot water the brush hardly ever gets dirty, the superlite mono brush is 10 times better with hot water also.

Once you go hot you`ll realise what all major suppliers are on about i used to think it was all sales pitch but i was totally wrong big time, ionic say if you want the best go for the thermopure and there spot on.I have converted my own and the results are the same as the above only £9500 cheaper, the gardiners flocked as i said does all that the vikan does but with what feels like a 1/4 of the weight. If your using hot water you only have to flash over the glass quickly for top results.

would you say flocked are for maintenance cleans or first cleans? Or can be used for everything?

Never hear from Tennant clean now. Is he too busy working all the hours trying to pay for his new van and thermal Ionics system ;D I miss his replies, interesting chap.

I use the flocked on PVC as it`s better for doing the frames ie it`s a wetter bristled brush the mono is no good for this as it will leave brush lines on the sills etc,on leads it`s also better as it glides over the ridges on the lead easier with no noise or bumping. To sum up i would use the mono on maintanance cleans and the flocked on the dirtier stuff although you`ll probobly find you`ll like it on most.

I personally feel that they could be used for either. One of our sub-contractors is using it for everything now.  He never uses 'rinsing on the glass' technique anyway, flocked brushes being better used with rinsing off the glass (my personal opinion again!).
