« on: November 20, 2008, 11:54:11 pm »

unless you are gonna do lots of similar jobs i wouldnt think so mate, a pole that goes that high would be best part of a grand to start with, plus a vehicle system etc, ..... however, get some help pricing it if you can from a wc you can trust and get a wc to sub it for you and at least its an income!! :) But its alot of expense, and its not as easy as going out and rubbing them up with a pole, there is some difficulty to it, but like i say if you wanna make a go of it, and not just one job thats different, but if you wanna land just this contract - sub it.....just my ten pence worth :)

hi guys

ive been offered a contract for doing windows at a block of appartments, there are 7 blocks and a total of 50 appartments,

A job this size would go out to tender to at least two-other window cleaning companies.

i havent got a wfp, im just wondering if its going to be worth it investing in wfp system,

Yes, definately, if you just want to try it, why not start with a backpack system; the total cost would be about £600.

they told me the highest window is aprox 60ft,

That is very high; you should get experience working at lower levels, in my opinion, before doing that.

It might be worth investing in WFP if the price is right, Are you cleaning the flats as well. If after you have the kit you can market it. I found the work easily

Ive purchased a WFP static system that produces 1000 litres in 4 hours.

I can't be bother in just running a small RO-MAN or Merlin it takes too long

I have a trolley system and I think they are great, you can double it up as a van system as well, just connect the hose up to it, leave it the truck.

Since we have had this we have marketed it and we have gained 8 customers already. We have not done the work just yet. Thats in the last 10 -  12 days!

Go for it dont be put off, but as Tosh said get use to working at lower levels.

I have also found that not all residential owners like WFP!

i want to build the RO purifier system itself with bead filter and all, someone said its much cheaper than buying it off the shelf and you can make one better than the standerd ones they sell if you know were they sell the individual parts.
i,m sure its possible.

i heard today that the guy they were using wanted £25 per appartment, and he would be doing it once every two months,

i think i will get this job and if i do then i will invest, but i will also secure at least another 3 contracts, i wont jump in to this lightly,

how do i price these type of jobs, is it per window or something, and if so whats the range of the prices you guys have.

thanx jonny

I wouldn`t go straight in doing windows WFP at 60ft,you need to work your way up to it.It`s a whole new ball game working at that height,it`s not just a case of buying the stuff and off you go you need experience to work at that kind of height.

Quite right.
Using the 60 pole whilst up isnt the problem, Its when you want to walk it round the building especially when its windy.
