which resin?
« on: November 20, 2008, 02:41:14 pm »
I have 50/50 resin in my ro/di unit which is only good for 400-500litres of water before the tds rises to 004.The supplier suggests that as I use the unit 1-2 tims a week the sparodic use lessens the life of the resin. Anyone experience the same?
Also does anyone who lives in berkshire have experience of whether 50/50 or a 60/40 mix of resin is the best for my area?
At the moment I am looking at doing 15-20 houses before chaning the resin. Not too cost effective!! ???

I don't live in Berkshire but doubt that will make a difference. My initial batch of resin came with my resin bottle and has lasted six months despite only being used once a week. That'll work out at probably around a good couple of thousand litres before being replaced. And that's with the bottle only half full... 15-20 houses - I hope they're mansions otherwise it must be costing you a fortune in resin!

I'm currently using the virgin resin that Doug at DA Services sells which is supposed to last a very long time.

I shouldn't say this but your supplier is probably short changing you on the resin as it is probably enferior resin. The mix should be 60/40 not 50/50, this is used in other industries and not window cleaning.

There is also a huge risk that he is selling you the wrong type of mixed bed resin as there is 2 types. Not going into technical details but my advise change over to the known brands.

Dying to ask, who is the supplier!

At a guess depending on usage you should get around 7-12 months use but all dependant on you water quality.
