Are you going to be a sole trade or as a Ltd company.

If the name if for a Ltd company you will need to see if its taken on companies house first.

You could go for the obvious window cleaning related names or a location based name or just use your own name or shorten it with just initials or you could go for something completely out of the box that makes you stand out from the crowd
I came up with my business name after alot of thought as i didnt want to use my name or go for the obvious i also wanted something that started with 'A' so i was at the start of listings in Yellow Pages etc people tend to look for the first name in their area when looking through these
Give us some more info i.e your name area etc and someone might be able to give you some suggestions

Ive taken the family name and used that :D

However many people have just shortened it to "Galloway's" which is fine by me, and the name i wanted people to recognise. Its leaves scope to expand my business to other fields in the future should i so wish, without confusion

Remember you may choose a name you like now, but in a few years - is there room to expand or improve the services under the same name? Or can you push the company name to be recognise by just one word?

Take Ionic systems, there was already a company called Ionics so they included the word systems and had that in very small txt, so that when people read the logo, they just got used to seeing the big bold Ionics but not the systems - now they are just known as Ionics.

is that true ? ? ? ?

very interesting as they do like to jump up and down about the words " reach and wash "

Yes its true,

Many companies abriviate names as you cant have the same name twice.

Example, If thee was a company called

Windows R us

the next company that wants that name use Windows R us (Kent) or whereever they are.

thats just an example

thats what craig said, when i was on the marketing course - which took into account naming your business.

do some research and see if you can find a recognisable name.

For instance, i called my company RS because its a name that you think you know of, even though you dont so immediately it jumps out at you.
RS is a branded name RS Cosworth, RS components (millions of companies use this company) so with me being commercial my company name looks familiar.

Also with two letters that sit beside eachother in the alphabet seem familiar even though people have never heard of my company, it stands out. It is said that using the alphabet to your advantage is a great marketing/advertising campaign because what is the first thing that everyone learns?................the alphabet
Unless your Matt that is, the first thing he learned was how to use a screwdriver and build stuff the wrong way round  ;D  ;D  ;D

sorry mate it must be "have a pop day" for you

I went for Mistercleanit and I believe I'm the only window cleaner with this name. Although some of you lads might know if this is true. Anyway I like my name cause its catchy and easily remembered.

Are you wfp or trad?

I agree with what someone said earlier about standing out. When I named my business I named it RO-sheen because 'RO' as in reverse osmosis and 'sheen' as in clean, Put them together it spells RO-sheen which is an Irish word/name for 'Rose'. With me being Irish I wanted a connection with my roots.

Also, the light blue colour was important as it is a 'watery' colour.
I also purposely didn't name it RO-sheen window cleaning as I wanted to keep my options open in case I wanted to diverse.
