Down to you but to me thats alot of work for hardly any return.

But your overheads will or might be different to mine and you might be able to make it work.

i bought a round of a bloke who retired back in the summer. i put the prices up after the 1st clean as they we're rubbish priced. since then they've been dropping like flies. can't afford an extra £ or even 50p.....In truth i wouldn't bother, go and get the custy's yourself ....canvass canvass canvass

i jave brought in most of my work, 1 guy retired, 1 guy went back to oz and the last guy was cutting back a bit

i paid 1 X the amount of the work, thus 350 i paid 350 quid for, i was lucky, i also worked it with the guy once, thus i cut the cost by 50 % and met some of the customers, so i met the customers and only paid 175 for the work

i was lucky, yes some of my work was underpriced ( or close to it ) i explained and put them up a quid, they are now worth what they should be, i didnt lose many of the, either

i now have a nice sized round and the stuff i got from the guy who retired is great, its a very compact round, the streets i do are 90% of the houses, its a very established round

yes a good price,if it was here i wouild buy without a problem,i had a round worth 800 a fortnight sold for 2500,about ten years ago,lads still have it.

I would check to see if he has been cleaning them regularly and the prices he quotes (that he charges)  are correct. 
If it was me and I had the capacity, it is worth taking on. I would normally increase the prices after a few months. I would need to think about what the custies will pay, and what other wfp window cleaners are charging for similar in the area.

hi thanks for all the replies so far,i'm the only one round here thats wfp (i put all the money back into the buisiness so we could go wfp and more)the guy-i do know him cleans for beer money-sure you've seen and know some of these he does clean when he knows someone is in so he gets paid beeeeeeeeeeep  Changed by moderator


we try/do operate a proffessional buisiness-although part time my existing custies are happy with this arrangement-although things at work are not looking good so i have to maybe "cushion the blow"with a bit of extra income-its adifficult one for us

i would clean the downstairs a while using the trad method, it will not be such a shock to the customers, they will accept WFP upstairs, safety and all that

If the houses are really underpriced, have a word with the chap who's selling and explain to him that his prices are too low and that you would buy the round off him at 225-250% of the value of his round after he's put the prices up to a realistic level and go around with him and get him to introduce you to the customers. Otherwise you could buy at 200% and lose 50% when you try putting the prices up in a few months time as they see you as the greedy new w/c who's taking custies for a ride.

I would pay him in instalments and only on what you clean, at the moment he is charging you double what he gets per month, I would instead increase the prices on all the houses, then I would pay him 50% of the new cleaning price for the next 3 cleans.

If any cancel, then he does not get paid for them, as for the cleaning method you use, don't change.

why would the guy who is selling accept them terms, they are extremely stacked towards the buyer who uses a different method of cleaning, as for the cleaning method dont change, well thats upto him, BUT if he wants to keep the work, he stands a better chance if he at least does downstairs the trad way for a while, then the customer gets used to the method, then he can change them over

The deal is a good one for the seller as well as the buyer, for instance this guy is selling 57 customers who pay him £6.14 on average per month, at the moment he want £12.28 per customer.

With my method I would increase the cleaning price up to £10.00 per customer and providing no one cancels he would make 50% per clean for the next 3 cleans, this would give him £15.00 per customer.

As for the cleaning method, I have the greatest convidence in me being able to clean their windows as good or even better than their previous cleaner, so why should I change, if after a few cleans they are unhappy with my cleaning method and it is not as good as previous cleaner then yes I would clean their bottom windows using the trad way.

i honestly think with such an increase you would loose the majority of the customers, how long does it take to do the round they maybe priced alright already

If the house is priced up correctly then leave the price alone, but if they are underpriced then you will regret doing them very soon.
