how to quote builders clean
« on: November 17, 2008, 05:54:25 pm »
I have been asked to quote the inside of an office block for a builders clean.

its an 1980's office but has been totally gutted and refitted,so essentially its a new build builders clean, they have asked me to clean every thing including the light fittings(strip light with little squares reflectors) also to polish a granite floor

can anyone show me an example of a quotation

do you have to highlight what you carry out or put it down as builders clean and price

can i also have a risk assessment example please ;D

Steve,

With jobs like this accurately pricing is almost impossible, I have found the easier method is to try and visualise how long in hours or days you think the job will take you.

recently did a quote for a new food store that has been totally gutted and revamped, I may be totally off the mark in what I've quoted, however I made sure I allowed enough to cover most eventualities.  We start the job the first week in December.

As for Risk assessments, I'm sure there are copies on the download pages of this site.

Lionheart is spot on, it is virtually impossible to price without seeing, how good are the plasterers. Get a cowboy and you spend all day scraping snots of floors and windows, same if they use a blind painter, all day scraping sockets and switches.
Top tip, make sure in your quote you mention that if you need to re-address an area because another contractor has gone in to put something right after you have cleaned, always happens, that additional charges will be added.

As for price it,s how long you think it would take x what you are willing to work for.
BE A WINNER
coming 2nd means you were 1st to LOSE

We have just done a new car showroom....what a nightmare they moved the date for us to start 3 times, then we were working around electricians, plumbers, painters etc. We cleaned an area then they would drill holes, paint it, hang doors etc. Then they started to use the garage, fixing punters vehicles, move cars into the showroom. All because they were behind schedule, It was so frustrating as we could not get one area clean to our standards. Don't go in cheap just to get the job these are generally a lot of hassle. Thankfully i priced it according as i just had a feeling. Just had a call from them they want me to go back and do the workshop floor again, explained its been done once and it now has oil in places, so this will be extra on the invoice to which they have agreed. So it goes on........
