having bad trouble with machine fumes!!
« on: November 17, 2008, 03:44:49 pm »
 :'( :'( :'(

im having really bad time with exhaust fumes from my machine.  its mounted on the back of my renault kangoo van and i have a tank of water in the van too. i have tried to run a pipe off the exhaust to expel the fumes but it gets red hot and i burnt my arm and as it was long it was touching the floor once and it melted a hole in a piece of tarmac i was parked upon.  :'(

i have taken the mini exhaust off and now the fumes come straight out of back of van so when im near it, or turning on and off im breathing all the cancerous fumes in.  i have a cough when i have been working near machine and i feel sickly too.  what can i do.  i used to pull machine out and face away from me but i need to speed up ther cleaning time.   and i cant afford to buy big van and machine at mo to run the exhaust through the roof.  :'( :'( :'( :'(

Why don`t you mount your machine on heavy duty runners/rails and bolt it to the floor of your vehicle, then you can pull out pressure washer from the back of the van without physically lifting it, .......make you sure can lock it place though when you ready to go to your next job via pins!.
`
See if you can buy `foil insulation` for industrial piping,....its a type of wadding encased in foil,. then wrap this around exhaust pipe and tie with plastic cable ties, then just hook the pipe on your door or roof gutter instead of drilling holes in your roof,...make sure the pipe is long enough ( a few feet above your head for dispersion).

Your washer should not melt any tarmac,...you need to fit plate between the underneath of your washer and the floor, plus buy feet for the frame to stand on!

I got a 42hp jetter in the back of my van and the exhaust goes through the floor by about 150mm. Its all wrapped in a modern abestos? tape that you can touch while its running. you can get similar tape from demon tweeks etc

Get a welder to weld you some loops and get springs - similar to how the exhaust is held on a 2 stroke mx bike then it'll be easy to remove
