Jim

I give up - I logged out, clicked on forgotten password, got sent an e-mail, clicked on the link, re-set the password, logged in with the new password no problem, changed my name and input the new password and it won't change it.

Carpets Plus it is then  >:(

I gave up some weeks ago trying to update the profile for the same reasons you give.
Why can't it be made easy?

It should be pretty straightforward  :-\

Did you click on the Change Profile button after you'd typed in your new name?

I have changed mine every now and then, we went through a phase earlier in the year when everyone changed to there real names and it got confusing ( for me anyway ).

I had trouble changing my name back to garyj, and have changed it temporarily for a lark and it is sometimes a pain to change back.

If you are having trouble to follow Jims steps again tomorrow??, sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't!.

( I think Kev Loomes was one of the ones that changed, cannot remember who he was before! )

Yeah done that Jim

Deleted the old name - input the new name - entered new password - clicked change profile - the sceen then goes back to the top with the word Name now in red, obviously indicating an error.

I have logged out and back in so the password obviously works.

Steve, you know why you can't change your name?  Because it's already in use!!!

www.cleanitup.co.uk/smf/index.php?action=profile;u=9868

You must have had another account and then made a new one!

If you can, log in to your old account and delete it, then try to change the name on your current one ;)

Jim you should change your name to Columbo   ;D

I never would have sussed that and certainly don't remember opening an account in that name, mind you it was 2 years ago.

Cheers mate I will give that a go.

Just thought, hope it's not too late....

you might need to change the name of your defunct "steve Barnett" account BEFORE you delete it, otherwise that account may be stuck with the name permanently and you won't be able to use change your carpets plus account to that name!
