After putting an invoice in [ decent sized ] how long would you expect to wait for payment.

Did you not specify in your T&C for payment? Commercial is normally 28 days.  Did you specify any length of period for payment?

28 - 30 days is normal. usually let it go 5 days over before getting on the phone, in case they posted it on the 30th day.

I think as a general rule, you could say the bigger the company, the longer the payment takes to get to you.

Normally, now though, when I take on an 'invoice account', I'll find out the name, telephone number, and e-mail address of the person who actually makes the payment.

I've got one that can take upto three-months if I don't chase them up, but normally within a week or so of an e-mail, I'll get a reply saying that payment has been made.

I put 14 days on all of ours, But as above some of my larger contracts take upto 6 weeks to pay. What you find is the larger firms have pay runs if you put you invoice in after that means you gotta wait till the next on. Its a pain but with times the way they are you know its money thats coming in the end.
