Cleaning one of my regulars today, oh look they are decorating the lounge - pots of paint on the floor. I carry on working and it suddenly dawns on me - there is no furniture, get round the back and no furniture there either! Looks like they have cleared off maybe it was rented. Nice of them to let me know.  :'(

Talking of no brains.... i had someone phone the other day for a gutterclean me: do you have access down the sides? him: yes, no problem. So i ask if they need to be in "no but we are always here".
Hook up my trailer loaded with generater and gutter sucker, drive to their house - they are out and its double locked down both sides. PILLOCK.  ::)

After a while you get to know which ones are possibly rented - low maintenance gardens, with stones - or all the grass removed, or over grown grass and weeds.. I always ask if the property is rented if they shows signs they are, as i wont do 2 unpaid cleans, only one just incase.

I have been cleaning this old man for quite a few years, and he was always telling me how his Son was always after his money.

Well the old boy died owing me £10, before I realized he had died I had left several envelopes for payment, then found out he had died.

Now I would forget it, but knowing the Son and that he has picked up the mail, but hasn’t sent the money and never will. Yet he is going to inherit a tidy bungalow that has now been put up for sale. I have a good mine just for the hell of it to send an invoice to the estate agents, and every month until he pays.

It’s not the money, its this bloke is a sponger.

What would you do?

I did a house last month, been doing it for a couple of years - £15 - she said she didn't have any money, can I pay you next month?

I was fine with this as she has always paid up in cash with no problems. Got there this month, house empty with the notice in the window about collecting personall effects etc.

I am really ped off about this, she must have known she was getting repossesed, and I will collar her when I next see her.

At the moment the way times are i would be very wary of new customers no matter who they are,the chances are after you`ve cleaned them a for sale board will go up.

Until they ask you to clean them again, and ask for the money up front!

A family that I have cleaned for for 5 years told me that they were moving at the end of August 08 and could I do my last clean at the beginning of August.

They already owed me for June's clean (£16), so I did August's and billed them with my usual pre-paid envelope.

3 weeks went by, no cheque.  Managed to telephone them (I had their home number) they said sorry but they had forgotten and will send the cheque before they move.

Cheque came through for £16 (not the £32 they now owed). I called them at home (they were moving the next day) they apologised again and said they would send the other £16 - it's never been sent!

The most annoying thing is that they were always very friendly, he did charity work and the whole family were regular church-goers.

i went to my last house of the day yesterday, in a bit of a rush as it was getting late and dark, £20 4 bed detached, got it all done and put the sae through the door and was just leaving when i noticed the for sale sign had gone, from the front garden, been for sale for ages. then i realised there was a few differant things about the property that were not usually there.
hope she aint moved and not told me, or hope the new owners are looking for a window cleaner. sure ill find out soon enough.???
