Losing jobs vs new work
« on: November 04, 2008, 08:07:30 pm »
Credit crunch etc. How's it affecting you? Yesterday I lost both halves of a semi (they are friends and had obviously agreed to stop me together) for the "winter". Doubt if they'll restart in the spring. Went up the street and got a new one without aking. Today I got a really good new one (she was having coffee with her mate when I turned up - give me a quote I live over there).  Quite hard to work out where it's all going. I'm better off after this, but after next week....who knows ???

Lost 1 gained 2 today. Ups and downs, roughly balances out.

Lost a £19.50 today and gained a £17. On the whole I am still gaining more than losing but the gap is getting smaller. Then again, new business does tend to slow down for me between October and January

LOSING MORE THAN GAINING. I haven't picked up any new work for the last 2 months.

i just want peace of mind....somebody somewhere has a round wi my name onnit..please...please retire n gimme.

loads coming in, only done 600 leaflets over 2 sundays, been giving work away!! picked up 3 £10 houses on sunday and a £13, and a £16 which should be about £7 but is about a mile out of my way so thought it might as well pay, got about £120 in one offs (con roofs, pvc etc), and still coming, got a few quotes to do tommorow, all from leaflet, only done 1 hr canvassing so far :)

On down side, lost a £4 a month house for "winter" lol, be losing it next summer too for that, unless she wants to pay double :)

Losing work hand over fist at the moment, although I think it's more to do with me being a crap window cleaner ;D

since march i have lost 3, and a couple have gone every 2 months, but i have been picking up work at a steady pace every week, some commercial, but mostly domestic...
i try to leaflet for about 15-20 mins every week .... doesnt sound much, but when you add it up over the months, thats a lot of flyers..(and all targeted at the right houses)

Its going to be a bumpy ride for a while, expect it and don't get put off by it. Keep canvassing or leafletting, its good for morale.

Remember, the best safeguard in a recession is a broad customer base.

My commercial is going better than my domestics, all though I've not lost any for nearly a whole month.  On the whole I'm probably on an even kill, but only just.

Simon.
