no idea how ive done it but ive got a crack in section 1 about a inch n a half long , its half way up the section, like its been pushed in, gutted, been looking after it like it was gold, oh well

is there anything that would help it just for now, wrap some strong tape round it? duck tape or summit

Wrap some duck tape with the fibreglass strands around it or use a fibreglass sheet and resin (like a bandage).

im eventually gonna get a slx/sl2 but id be devastated to see any damage after the dough put out, can you not insure them or something??

Thats what I would do, wrap some duct tape around it. Lucky it is section 1 as there wont be much strain on it. ie If it was section 3 there would be more strain and a bit of bend when you pull the pole away from window to bring it onto the ground.

What brush have you on it? Hopefully a superlight one. If not, get one.

Get your self down to a fishing shop and buy some resine and cotton that you put eyes on fishing rods.Put a bit of resine in the crack and let it dry over night , then rap the cotton round the crack and then give that a cote of resine,and let that dry.It will last longer than tape and it's stronger.

Most fishing shops offer this service and if you explain what you need doing them will do it and it will be as good as your going to get.Dont normaly cost much either.

I've a crack in my section 1 too, about 6 inches long, had it for a couple of months (crush damage from it being stood on  ) But hasn't affected the pole one iota.

Should I think it needs repairing I'll simply wrap so fibreglass sheeting around it (as per instructions on the packet!) and bobs yer uncle! Job done!

Just buy a fibreglass repair kit from your local car parts shop (halfords and the like) It's a piece of cake to do and gives a rock hard, long lasting repair.

There's lots you can do with regards to repairing these poles before you have to consider replacing a section.

I was quite impressed with the pole Tosh, enough so to consider getting one for Carla to use, at only 20 quid, if it only lasted a few months it's just pennies to replace it!

And no offence taken, just goes to show how tough the SL2 is if it can take my 15 stone tromping all over it!

I'm off down the fish for a couple now, I've an hour or two to myself, so a pint beckons
