cheeky monkeys
« on: October 29, 2008, 09:10:49 pm »
Hi folks.
I sold my round a few weeks ago.  A fare price and I took the new fellow round every single one of the custied for an intro.
I told them that we are keeping some custies but if we dropped themwe would put them their way.

Anyway,I took my nipper to football practice today at the local school ( that we clean) and the caretaker who is a friend of the family came over and told me that this firm had called at the school and asked if they had a window cleaner.  Yes thank you and we're very happy with them was the care takers reply.  Well if its teme valley cleaning services we have just taken over their whole round and they have packed up so we will provide you with a quote if you like.
Luckily the caretaker told them that he wanted to hear it from me, so declined the quote.

The cheeky so and so's.  They knew that the school was one of ours.  I dont mind people approaching companies and offering quotes, but to go around and say we have quit is a bit of a low thing to do, IMO.

Veni, vidi, vino, splatus.

Yep, I agree! Normally I am a very placid guy but that is way out of order. Why not go back ot your old customers as a curtesy call to make sure they are happy with the new service. After all, you do owe them a bit of loyalty after all of the business they gave you over the last few years..... ;)

spoke to them about it this morning and apparently their manager lady goes around and tries to fill the round etc.  She didnt know it was one of ours apparently.  I did ask why she had said that we had totally stopped and they didnt really answer.

They are now saying that half of the custies I sold them haven't been keen for  them to do the windows.  I spoke to my custies before and they were keen for them to take over. ??? ???

I am now waiting for a call back from the Head person.  So I will be going round my old round and explain a few things.

Really annoyed

That is the problem when buying work! You should always expect that, they are then quite obviously not the window cleaner you are!

You need inter personal skills and a willingness to talk to people for the resi market, you could be the best window cleaner in the world but for resi customers they want someone personal..

Resi customers dont buy into clean windows they buy into the person that does them too.

I've had people canvassing my work, telling the custies that I'd given up and that I'd authorised them to take over. l
Luckily all my custies know that I've been doing the job for years and that if I was going to quit I'd tell them myself, so they got told so sling their hooks!!
Cheers Rich
