Depends what type of paint it is, what colour the paint is, what colour the carpet is, what type carpet is it.

Are we talking about paint spots or paint everywhere?
It might cost more to remove than the carpet is worth.

Des,

You say its a Wilton, in that case you can use Nitromors paint stripper. The reason is its woven and therefore hasnt got a secondary backing. The secondary backing would delaminate, but as its woven it wont.

Just put a drop on, work it with a spatula, spoon, blunt object etc, and when it all loose scrape up the excess  and just rinse out.

I have done this loads of times on Wiltons and Axminsters, they will think you are a marvel, unless its an Insurance job then they will hate your guts for saving the carpet.

Good luck.

you can also buy Plastic friendly paint stripper from boat chandlers, fibre glass is actually Polyester. This is safer to use and does not cause delamination if used cautiously.
