Men cleaning houses
« on: October 23, 2008, 09:20:24 pm »
Hi, to cut a long story short........I quit my cleaning business 2 yrs ago, been working here n there for a bit and now working for a cleaning company as an area supervisor, but the pay is not brilliant and I dont like being unsure of my future and dont like false promises!  >:(

Anyway, was thinking of started house cleaning rather than office cleaning and wondered what your views are on men cleaning houses?

Realistically, there shouldn't be a problem but people are fickle and apparently women are better cleaners ::)

Have not had any problems personally, and I've done regular domestic cleans, spring cleans for female customers etc.

As long as you do a thourough job, don't think there is any difference.

At the end of the day customers need to trust you as a person and believe that you can do a good and thorough job. The majority of prospects will probably not care that you are a man and a minority may be biased. It is an imperfect world unfortunately - man, woman, black, white, tall, short, foreign, local - but this should not stop you from succeeding.

My husband did some regular house cleaning for customers and I know a friend too whos husband helped her when she went cleaning for people. It wasn't a problem as long as you do a good job.

Depends really,  some of my weekly female customers specifically want females to clean some other customers are not comfortable with black cleaners it's the way of the world you like some and you don't!

thanks for the replies, I'll just have to take the bad with the good (or whatever they say???).

I suppose it's like when you quote for an office cleaning contract, some clients form an opinion of you within the first few minutes and sometimes that can sway their decisions more than money or professionalism etc.

Just have to hope I get some domestic cleaning jobs now that the threat of worldwide recession is in full force!!! ???

if you can tell the people when you qoute  what you do you should get the work , male or female should not matter.
