Hi all,

we're trying to drum up more business form the leather cleaning & restoration side of the business but are struggling to put together a decent leaflet, need something to go on the reverse of info we send out to existing customers, is any one willing to share there leaflet or some ideas?

I find with leather leaflets that it's much easier to write on the smooth side rather than the reverse side. And of course we all know that ink on leather can be permanent.

Kev where do you get your templates for your web designs and what software do you use?

You can make templates yourself using images. For a very very simple example; Go into your paintshop type programme and make a box and fill it with a colour or gradient. Then place this image into your html page using your web software. Move it around, adding other images until you get the construction right.

Then you can start adding text areas and creating links. Adding images is easy so long as they are resized correctly and positioned where you want - which can be tricky for a newbie. I'm sure you know Shaun, web building can take a very long time - depending on how good you want it to look.

The web software I use is wysiwyg and frontpage. But am also getting to grips with the best of the best: dreamweaver and fireworks CS3.

It's always good to look at other websites to get ideas. SEO is very important, and just as an example all our sites are No1 on Google, with one site having approx 134 No1 positions

Got the mail but can't open the file    - keeps saying File type - PUB FILE file extension - PUB further software details reqd - Corel Ventura Publication, Maxis SIMs Family File or Microsoft Publisher??

Kev on the subject of self building websites are there any truly, mindblowingly basic programs out there for beginers? I did buy a program, can't remember the name, only a cheap one off e-bay, spent a couple of hours looking at it and scratching my head and since then its been gathering dust with my Celine Dion CD collection (it was just a phase!!)

Kev maybe if your attending a certain event next year  : you could give some of us a few lessons!!  no pressure!!

Did anyone look at the goat?? I almost wet myself, but maybe thats just my sense of humour.

The pub file is if you have microsoft publisher - which is in microsoft office. Dont you run office? This is so you can edit it. Anyway the pdf should still show you the leaflet, although you cant edit it with this.

The trouble with mindnumbingly easy programmes, is that they are very restricted as to what they can do. Unfortunately there isnt an easy way, the only other option is to use an online web builder that some hosts offer. But these can be a bit naff. I know some of the guys on here just buy (or get a free) template and then enter their info to suit. Sometimes it can look ok, other times it can look so obvious that it is a template that it puts people off a bit.

I will certainly be attending the 'certain event' next year, but for another reason. Cant say what as I havent approached them yet

Thanks for that, your right got the PDF open now, Doh!! I don't have Microsoft Office unfortunately. The flyer looks spot on, very professional looking as is your leather website.

I see what your saying about the basic DIY web design, I'm just getting to grips with Photoshop, doing some online courses maybe that will give me a better chance with the web design stuff.

Re - My website, i am happy with the look, but the guy that built it has taken the money and run. Its a huge white elephant regarding being found on searches, I need a links page and some optimisation plus a few text changes.

I've had a look at your site and your SEO isnt great and you have no alt tags. This is why your not doing too well in Google, and the fact that you have no quality links.
