With a bit of help you can get a site in top of google, its not too hard, as long as you hae a site, and have access to it... Windowwashers.co.uk, in the window cleaning section is handy with getting sites in google....good luck

You need to optimise the site to come up using terms that joe puplic uses to find services that you do. I come up if you put in drain jetting, blocked drain kent or blocked drain dover but you put in a similar search and you get different results. Its all about having a good site thats friendly, good content thats keyword rich and the right key words. I have a customer st built site thats a gold mine but another thats been pants

I think its like any other form of advertising, this week I have had about 2-3 very small domestic jobs from google plus a couple of estimates for commerical, its free on google so every job is a bonus.

Hi dont come on this section often!, you are talking about adwords. I have had success with this as well as natural listings, free directories and others. I have been able to get onto the top of the first page on many keywords through using this method and in my home town achieved my ultimate aim - domination of the first page. 90% of the listings point to me! The thing with adwords is though you bid to have your ad shown each time and in areas where the key words are common with a lot of people bidding it can cost you a lot. I am lucky that I dont have much competition in my area on there and have never had problems with the costs exceeding budget. In fact I set a limit of £30 per month on it and TBH the average spend is around half of that per month and I have had a good stream of jobs from it. So it works for me but I do know that when a keyword is popular with adword users then the bids per click can be high and that if you end up with lots of competition then you will pay a lot of money for little results however, if you are in an area where there is little competition on the keywords then you could end up paying a small amount for many results. This is the reason why no one ever gives a definitive answer as to if it works or not - it's area specific. The best option for you would be to have a trial period set a budget and try a month. Then you will know the average cost per click and if it's worth it for you

If you pay a company to get you to the top of google their are a couple of things to bear in mind it will take time and money to get there, to stay there it will cost you money and it will depend on what area you are in and how much competition you have in your area for the services you are offering, be careful there are a lot of companies who can do this but it is expensive. Your best bet would be to open an ads word account and get 30 days support for free and then from there take time daily to do it yourself!

Its all about key words and a bit of experience - try drain jetting in google and I'm top of the natural listings but its seldom people put that in, they put in blocked drain. If you read SEO for dummies you can do it yourself. You need to aim it at your local area as you don't want to travel so you need the terms Joe public would put in to find you (key words) including coomon spelling mistakes ! I'm in Dover and if you google blocked drain dover I almost fill that first page and have never spent anything on ad words or pay per click. I got my own site with Uk reg @ £5/month and two customer st sites, one pants and one is a gold mine which are £30/month
