I am just wondering what everyone's minimum charge is. Mine is £50 but I am beginning to realize this is not enough! Look forward to your votes!

mines £50 so i don't know which box to tick, youve not thought this survey through have you, try again with £40 to £49 / £50 to £59 allthough you might get someone saying "i charge £49.50" so stick the 99p on just in case.

I think it only polite that if you've voted you should post a message to what you voted ;)

I voted £40-50 but I'm flexible with OAPS and regulars.

for this they would get a kitchen, or hallway maybe a big stain.

I try £59 but on the smaller ones for OAP's or just stupid jobs where free is not relivant £49.00.

In the US they have a higher min charge ($100) to get the customer to have more done in one trip.

50+Vat but going to put it up soon because I'm getting a lot of piddly little min charge jobs at the mo.

The amount of work I do for that varies considerably.  I don't have any problem doing 20 mins of work for that if I've rescued £££'s worth of carpet/upholstery for someone.

Last week I spot-cleaned a few bitumen marks off a lounge carpet in about 30 mins, which considering I had to drag my porty round the back, set up, have a coffee, chat, then pack up, meant very little time with the machine on!!

In contrast, one of my OAP regulars wanted her kitchen lino floor doing because her cleaning lady was away.  It was so small I did it with a minitex and literally about 10 passes with the wand!  I wouldn't have been able to sleep that night if I'd have relieved her of almost 60 bucks for that little work, so I vacuumed the lounge & hall and spotted some marks with a terry towel.  I was there over an hour but left feeling good about myself.  It filled up the last part of my Friday afternoon.

Moving up from £50. I have always increased it a little bit every year so no big hikes for regulars and nor does it sound so drastic to me.

Some flexibility like others where there is a good reason to do so. Often will offer to do something extra so custy gets value for money.

the best way would be to have no M/C for new customers and a M/C for existing.

if you think about it every time the phone rings with a new customers you have to remember the life time value of that person ( I hate using those americanified quotes >:( ) so if you have a M/C of £50 and they go elsewhere then you've lost all the money they would have ever spent with you, but say you do it for free you lose £50 but the next time they want their suite cleaning or all their carpets you make £100s

so in the long term  not having a minimum charge will make you more money :D
