A customer has phoned to say she wants her 20 year old velvet suite cleaned.
Whats the best chemical to use ? also I normally charge £45 to clean a suite, is this enough for a velvet?

Hi ,
aint done one yet but what ive been told : dont !! really wet it, just lightly and use white towels as you go , if its too wet it drys like rats tails
BUT all of this is just what ive been told .
That sounds cheap to me when its a slow process by hand .
some one on here will be able to give 1st hand info on this tho

Firstly go and have a look at it and see if it is what the customer said, then to a crock test with the product you are going to clean with then if you are happy
1. Very good pre vac and brush
2. Put on mask
3. Apply dri cleaning agents (Dri Pro) and spray on
4. Aggitate with brush and towel off
Make sure you have a well ventilated room and also make sure that you brush the pile the right way when you have finished, results are not brilliant but you may well go through more than what is deemed profitable at £45 a suite.

£45 quid is no where near enough especially when its not wet cleanable. you'll be grooming till the cows come home.
i wouldn't touch it.
and for £45 i wouldnt get out of bed and i'm a newbie.

Is it velvet?
Some custy's perception of a fabric can be totally wrong, so as Shaun said go and look at it. It could be Draylon, Viscose, Velveteen, mixed fibres, blah blah blah.
Is it really that old? Cleaning a very old piece may have little effect and could get damaged.
Why are you charging £45 to clean a suite?
Where are you based?

Evening Shaun
Cantankerous
?? why? Just wondering about a very unusual name and Ricky of the same opinion ( that it's unusual )
Anyway I'm off to see an urgent job in a hotel.
Weird thing is, I'm regarded as so laid back, I'm horizontal by everyone I know in the " real " world.
Bye for now
robert
Agree with Kev that you could very easily wreck such a suite.

Velvet suite? Which chemical? Is £45 enough?
If someone raises these sort of questions, with all due respect, they should not contemplate proceeding until they've attended a suitable training course.
Everything suggests that the poster is totally lacking in knowledge and technical skills.
Safe and happy cleaning
