never had a problem with mine , i use the mk 11 version, with a bypass pump runs full blast all  the while, with a varistream pump works at a slower speed , this saves wear and tear on pump , and battery lasts a lot longer.

Varistreams are crap. No end of problems and the warranty is void if you use minibore,etc. What use is that???

Mines been going 2 years now and no trouble.

I have had a varistream and didn't like it.

On my van the pumps have not varistream or bypass just a flow control tap and its a perfect setup.

My trolley has a bypass which again is a good setup.

All my pumps are flojets 60psi not sure whether it makes a differance on pump makes.

I think varistreams are just one more thing to go wrong i like the simple approach and less chance of things going wrong

I prefer using a flojet pump with a valve between the tank and pump to control the flow. I have never tried a bypass though.
Might now as my pump stopped working yesterday. Really hot to touch and smells of burning. Couldn't see any burn marks though.

i use my trolley connected to my tank. had same problem but now don,t move trolley i have fitted an 85 amp battery and get no problems.

i use a digi varistream constant on 3 for every day jobs and 5 on bad ens. i think its great

Hm, I suppose it does depend on what setup your running yea, I understand people can run into troubles with them.

I find the varistream has a mind of it's own.

I switch it on and it's a bit too much of a trickle.
So I go back to the van and turn it up a bit.

This is fine for 10 minutes or so, then it speeds up and uses all my water and battery.
So...I go back to van and turn it down again.

Then half hour later...you get the idea...

Still, nice to have the control.

Do you have a digital Varistream or the old analogue one? The digitals seem pretty rock solid, the older ones got problems I think.

Neither, Varistream are rubbish and a bypass will run your pump continuously, shortening the life of your pump, overheating it at times and flatten the battery quicker. I'd rather use a decent water flow controller, decent flojet pump and no bypass.

Digital varistream but only if you are in the know, otherwise it can be pot luck!

Varistream but I have found the old style non digital to be so much easier to adjust and fault find.
I really regret buying the digital one!
