Merlin question
« on: October 16, 2008, 07:40:40 pm »
Evening all, wonder if someone can spread some light for me.

I have a set of merlin filters, the water going in reads about 190 - 200TDS. the water after sediment filter and merlins is about 35TDS. Is this about right, I have some replacement RO membranes for the merlins as i thought they were shot (long story) but now the TDS is around 35 that doesn't seem too bad.

Can anyone tell me if the reading is normal or still quite high??

Thanks

Ryan

Your membranes sound fine at the moment, tho I would hang on to your spares if I were you.

They have a good shelf life, and if you send them back you'll prob find that prices have increased when you actually do need them!

Also, if you ever get an interrupted mains supply (e.g. brown tap water) you might need spare filters in a hurry.  We had brown tap water for only 2 hors a couple of months back and the brown sediment trashed both membranes and the carbon prefilter!  I lost several days waiting for replacements to arrive.

Cheers
