I have taken a "greener" approach to my business activities for quite a few years now. As many of the more senior forum members will recall, it started out not for the obvious reasons.
In 1998 I had cancer. Why me? No family history of the illness. Not overweight, don't smoke, almost tea total, grew up on a farm and have always ate healthily. What could have caused it? The only thing I could think of, apart from bad luck, was occupational. In those days, One Step was newish and the safer option for me. Along with others, with encouragement notably Dave Ingram, I made it work for me. My logic was that I couldn't drink most of our cleaning solutions without harming myself. One Step was from food grade components and I was told that whilst it was safe to drink, it tasted foul.
The industry has moved on, more "green" products are available and the one I now use for most of my work is made from 4 vegetable products plus lactic acid (from milk). My perception is that it is safer for me.
Even so, no chemicals are safe. Even water can kill you. Forget about saving the planet with eco friendly products. Save yourself. You're the most important person in the world. People will save the planet, not a vegetable based washing up liquid.
BUT. If you can turn this growing fear for the planet's well being to your advantage and earn a little more profit for yourself and your family well, there's nothing wrong with that. It's called Good Business.
SAFE and happy cleaning
