Prochem or NCCA
« on: October 10, 2008, 07:53:43 pm »
  Hi all,

would like advise on which course is best 1st : Prochem or NCCA.

been CC for 2 years , spent 3 months carrying water etc and asked lots of Qs on every job :-[ by a Grandad with 25 years experience B4 touching a wand etc. even though ive been on about 350 jobs (147 alone) Ive been taught 1 way only and would like to see other methods b4 I go TM next spring.

I know there other courses but it seems these are the most popular unless one of you chaps/chapeses
can give me some GOOD solid guidance.

At a push Possibly even would let me watch them in action on a job !!

                Thanks R.T

I have done the NCCA course but not the Prochem.
Prochem will be fine but they will obviously promote their products (which are OK).

NCCA dont promote any particular product (though I did get freebies as supplied by a number of suppliers).
2 day course - Fri & Sat - at Leicester which is resonably central for all.
Different types of machines to play with ie HWE, rotary, CRB

Benefit of NCCA is that if you pass the test (which is straight forward) you can pay a fee to become a member.
If YOU promote the fact you are a member - like you promote other benefits of the client choosing you to clean their carpets - then you will find it works for you........ and thats a fact cause I do just that.

Ricky

I've done both and they're excelent courses with sound instruction. If you do the Prochem carpet and upholstery, the price will work out about the same as the NCCA's combined carpet and upholstery.

NCCA is generic whereas virtually all Prochem's content is related to their own products (quite rightly too)  If you are considering joining the NCCA, then do the NCCA course as this training is compulsory (one or two other generic courses are acceptable qualifications though).  If you don't wish to join the Association, then geography may well be a deciding factor in your choice. Given you're level of experience, you may just about be knowledgeable enough to look beyond the branding of Prochem training and gain as much from it as on the generic course of the NCCA.

If it was me choosing for my technicians, I would use NCCA unless Prochem was on my doorstep.

Safe and happy cleaning :)
Ken

PS If you are about to buy some new Prochem equipment, you may be able to negotiate a training course into the deal ;)

Pas86 optional Ricky the course manual with NCCA very good and instructors top notch. However i think you can get a free Prochem course if you buy a Prochem machine.

if youve got the money, do them both, there just as good as each other, i did both, you learn so much more the second time you do one, allthough that might not relate to you as i'm guessing you know a bit all ready, where as i was a complete novice.
derek

Why thankyou Ricky.

Never had a T/M, although I've played with quite a few.

New or S/H is full of pros and cons, so it's a personal decision you'll need to make for yourself once you've done all of your research.

Having dragged a porty around the West Midlands for the last 28 years, I'm beginning to get a little bit tired these days, so if I was looking at upgrading to a trucky, the HydraMaster Boxxer 318 offers me everything I'd need for my business. If I was more into the hospitality side of commercial, then I'd probably need something bigger, maybe a Prochem Everest  8)

Safe and happy cleaning :)

if you buy equip from prochem you get a free course, but IMO it is a waste of time.
You would be better off doing their 2day one.

After saying that the NCCA is the best  ;D but they dont recommend one particular company.

I`v just bought a 318 from Hydramaster and i cant recommend them enough, their service is great.

Good luck in the future

Regards

Daryl

Ps i`m from DUDLEY

Hi Daryl,
Thanks for the guidance fella , cud i be real rude and ask if you would be willing to let me see
you using your all singing all dancing TM doing its job in real time.

ive found that a course will show things in an easy perspective but not how it is in the real world.

I said i CAME from Dudley,
I live in BOURNEMOUTH, but yes you are more than welcome to come and see it in action.
I`v only had it for three weeks, it takes time to get used to it but the results are better, time is quicker, carpets drier and it makes the job easier ;D ;D

If you wanted to come and spend a day down here, i would try to get a full day at a couple of lettings as it would be easier without custys about  :D
it may take a couple of weeks to try to arrange this, if your interested give us a call.
Regards
Daryl

As long as i`v got some work then, fine
You could  book a day out with Hydramaster instead,
as then they could show you more powerfull machines than i`v got,
(the 318 is their entry model)
On other forums at the moment is a large and heated debate whether people should go for a larger TM as it will do larger jobs, not restricted to domestic and small commercial.
For me at the moment the 318 is the only one that i could afford, not stretching myself to far with the doom and gloom of the credit crunch upon us.

If you can afford to go bigger then i would recommend to do so.
