this brings up an interesting point i recently created a web site and asked for permission to borrow a couple of pics from someone else and he agreed but they might not be his in the first place how do you check, by the way i aint no web designer so dont baffle me ;D  with techno jumble and if i have pics that arent mine how do i check

You could put a link to you website here and let people look. I see images from my website all over the place and it drives me mad.

Well,.. as annoying as it is, it just shows how good your site is Kev,... ppl only steal the good stuff! :)

But seriously,.. how hard is it to get stock images or take a camera to work with you? The logo's are prob the worst though,.. if this guy is advertising that he's a BWCA member and using an Ionics system etc when he isn't,.. that could possibly land him in court.

You don't have too many pictures, it would only take a couple of snaps to make your site completely you own  ;)

Lots of apostrophe issues mate.

"roof's" should be roofs

"area's" should be areas

etc.
It's a game of three halves!

I'd seriously re-think the colour scheme,... n offence but lurid colour text on a black background isn't very appealing.
Also requiring a quicktime plugin on the home page could loose some viewers.
Nat do you design sites ?

On occasion,.. when I want to buy something for my van and the wife won't let me spend!
I'm on a mission for an SL2 at the mo, so I'm working on a couple. I work from templates which makes the job quicker and cheaper, if not quite so unique.

This one is almost done:
www.majesticwindowcleaning.co.uk

and this one is just started (The hosting needs to be changed before I do much more to it):
www.dorset-window-cleaning.co.uk

What would you do without templatemonster.com

I've even had my logo stolen and modified - now I have made it really hard to take. A few people have asked my permission to use my photos until they get up and running and I am always happy to lend them.

I have taken lots of time and spent a bit of money to make my site original. I use a mixture of original photos and bought in imagery to sell my product.  I just get annoyed at all the people that want the glamour and are happy to steal another companies images instead of geting their own.  I recently launched a new service. I dont have many quality Images of yet. So I too have borrowed some with permission. The understanding is I replace them when I get my own pictures.

I think people are genuinly happy to help if you ask permission. If you steal it will just cause bad feeling.  ;)

Thankyou for your opinion's and that are well noted.
Over the next few week's all the picture's on my website will be my own.

You site will be better for it, your company will be better for it, and best of all having a good website gives you a good buzz especially when the phone rings and the clients comment positively on it.

Good man  ;)

The contents is good, but very dishonest that you have used other photo's. Even if they have given you permittion it is still dishonest to the potential customers looking at your site, thinking you are something that you are not.

The site itsself is lacking any sort of decent design and I would advice you to buy one.

I also noticed LWC's graphics from his home page modified and put on your residential window cleaning section. You can actually just about make out the logo on his van. Why? why would you use that.

If you had used all your own material and put more effort into the design rather the making it look like a scrap book by cutting and pasting from different places then it might be not bad. My advice...

Remove anything that is not your, then start again. Do one page and play with the design until you like it, then keep everything else in theme. Get all your own pictures, and comments and you will be percieved as allot more honest by us and your customers.

gerard  :)

and not really a big deal putting up someones pictures if you ask, but someone elses logo?

if you wanted the gif you couldve asked, but not the one with the van on it thank you. i dont pay good money for someone else to put it on their site for free

would like it removed within 24 hours please and just to show my good will, heres the original gif for you to adjust

Ive seen your pics all over the web! I thought they must have got them from omni glyns site. As most of the sites claim they have a omnivac.

If you want to stop people using your photos then you have to take steps to stop them, like putting water marks through the pictures.

Yes, its not right to copy pictures, but its a fact that people will. Not only that alot of people have the same txt as a lot of other window cleaners... ( i own up to that, however where i can change the layour or wording i do try).

CLEANGLASSUK, if you are a member of BWCA, use an Ionics system, are a member of IPAF and FWC, then you should ask for a .eps file of their logos. You can then use that to create a bitmap which looks better than a .gif file (also you can use the .eps files for your stationary and flyers as .gif & jpegs are not up tp the job - lacking in quality.)

This shows on your site, as a lot of the images are .gifs which have been enlarged reducing the quality and so have gone very pixilated.

I see your website is like mine, and made up of lots of images. This can cause problems for the end user if they dont have such a good internet speed, as it takes ages for all the pictures to load up. I would suggest to have any links be them internal or external to the site to be in text and not an image (this also helps your site SEO), basically the less images the better! Keep images to photos of your work.
