Got the white faux seude sofa clean tomorrow, just wondered if I could sell her a protector or would it not take on this material? I use Scotchgard protector.

You can protect just the same as you would any other synthetic fabric suite.

Not sure as it is more or less is non absorbant so you could say in itself is already protected, can't remember if I've ever protected one.

In the furniture shops they will protect it with guardsman protector which is (if memory services me) silcone based or substitute and I can see that coating it but I don't think we can buy guardsman anymore as it's a licensing thing with a warranty but I personally believe it would wear off rather quickly as it won't bond truely.

delamination may also be a problem if applying  solvent based protectors.

Cleaned a faux suede 3 peice 18-24 mths ago with protector. Just went back last week to do some of her carpets and I commented on my last visit hoping she might want it done again soon but she said she was delighted with how clean its stayed.  :

Tony is dead right, dont use a solvent based one as you could have problems. Is the Scotchgard protector you've got water based? if so no prob's.

The Guardsman protector is not available to anyone apart from retailers who apply it themselves (and sell warranties) and Safeclean franchisee's. The Guardsman product is available in water based and solvent based. There are suppliers that sell other protectors (both types) - either branded or non branded so shouldnt be an issue, but you will need both if your going to sell it across the board.

Tip:

Some protectors are sold as 'carpet protectors' and 'fabric protectors' - one will be solvent based and one will be water based. THIS IS TECHNICALLY WRONG and should be thought of as 'solvent protector' & 'water protector'. Subsequently the right protector should then be used dependent on what it is being applied to i.e. by assessing the correct fibre on both carpets and fabrics.
