Shocked at chem dry Price
« on: October 06, 2008, 01:13:37 pm »
Hi all

I have done a quote against chem dry today, 1100 sq ft 4 bedroom house with lots of furniture to move, I priced at £350 for full service without protection and  £571.20 with protection.

Chemdry have quoted £195 without and £280 with protection.

Is it me or are they getting very cheap.

I am puzzled as I have never been more expensive than a chem dry franchise before.

Cheers

Neil

Crikey!  I thought from the thread title that you were about to tell us how they quoted 3 times your price for the same job :o

Not quite sure what's going on there, maybe it's a new franchisee not got his pricing sorted, or maybe some sort of loss-leader approach ???

Have you actually seen the quote or do you think the customer might be playing you off against each other?  I'd want to see a written quote before entering into any more discussion about the price.

Also, are you quoting for the same service?

I quoted a similar size but empty offices on 2 floors, about £220 if I remember right, and it was me or Chemdry - I lost!

derek, if you work in sq something or the other is allows you, with experience, to work out how long a job might take you to complete, especially usefull if your quoting for a large commercial job, no good saying to the customer 'i think it will take a day or 2', i know that i clean at around 50sq mtrs an hour for commercial so i can work out the time it will take to complete,

1100sq ft (quoted by Neil) is approx 122 sq yards (assuming my calculator correct).

In my case, the job was commercial, 7 offices spread over 2 floors, 15 tread staircase with mid landing and approx 8'x5' top landing.  Some small blobs of paint to deal with as well.

Yeah but that £345 could be for cord, who's the fool then? then extra for underlay.

I do see where you are coming from but people who buy this won't be carpet cleaning customers although I do agree it does send an adverse message out.

i apologise, of course your correct joe and at those measurements i am surprised at chem dry, that said, perhaps they are feeling the pinch the same as a lot of other people at the moment and getting whatever work they can, it can be a bit scary talking to some customers about the current money situation some are pulling there horns in and wont pay big money,

What they don't tell you is it will cost another £345 minimum to have underlay and another £150 for fitting.

Gets customers in the door though, maybe we should be more dishonest or at least a bit more liberal with the truth  :-\
