SILLY Q - Has anyone mastered a technique for rolling up vac hose after a job!!

I don't have room for a frame carrier, so I am relying on someone who has mastered the method of folding away vac hose without fighting with it on the customers driveway for 10 minutes in a desperate attempt to get the plastic b*****d to go quietly back in to its carrying bag. Have considered buying a flute and trying the indian snake charm method.

heres an idea, hold one end and then spin round in a circle as it wraps around you, then step out and voula, but seriously, no idea, but it might work.
give it ago, even if it doesn't work you'll amuse the neighbours.
please note, not to be attempted while under the influence of alcohol.

Thought it was just me!! When I bought the Ninja the chap ( Martin I think ) rolled up the hoses easily and slipped them in the bag, I struggled for a couple of weeks then gave up and just hurled everything in the back of the van.

Throw the hose bags away and use bungees.

With the quality of my work once I have been paid I have to make a quick getaway so no time to fuff about with hose bags.
Have you also noticed at the end of a job and you have had enough how easy it is to pick up a machine that still has water in it but once you get home you struggle to get it out the van

Don't you empty the machine before it goes back in the van
Paul, try sticking one end of the hose on the floor and put your foot on it, then lay the hose down in a coil. Space-permitting, you might find it easier to use a large storage box in the back of the van too.

You have to have them fully straightened out. If not it will take twice the time and be a right pain in the rectum.
I must admit i find it quite easy winding in but again the key is fully straightening out hoses.

I reduced my 50' hose to 25' and find no problem getting that length into a smallish coil, working in towards the middle, from either side.

as diamond said, you have to have the hoses fully laid out or you are fighting a losing battle, as you pull the hose, vac or solution towards you, twist the hose 'round into a loop, the vac onto the ground in front of you and the sol into your hand,

Mostly I do, but sometimes when I have had enough and it is the end of the day I clean the machine at home, dirty water and all!! If I am cheesed off I can pick the machine up quite easily even when it is filled with waste and clean water, by the time I get home I wonder how I got it on the van as it is very hard lifting it out.

As suggested lay it fully out first. It was also suggested to me to dispense with the cable ties and have sol/vac seperate.
I find if you twist the hose as you lay it and go with the torque it goes easier and tighter circumference.
Quite often put the machine in van with sol in if between jobs to save time.

Throwing a coil is an art, very simple once you master it.
Then you buy a hide a hose system, now that really is a b**tard.
The solution and vac' hoses have different natural circumferences
when coiled so one tries to uncoil the other. I used to train cleaners for
a company years ago and used to laugh at trainees attempts, they always
said i made it look easy. Then one trainee surprised me, his reply when i
explained the usual fiasco was after 25 years in the merchant navy,
" i can throw a coil in my sleep".

Easier if you keep the suction hose separate from the solution hose.
Solution hose easier to coil when its still hot/warm.
Both are easier to coil if laid out straight before starting.
Use bungees to fasten together.
Bag optional - I dont use, just another pain.

Keep all my stuff in big plastic crates, the green ones from tesco delivery are great for holding 5 ltr chem containers 8 in each, then i have a big one from a butchers, that i can get 50ft of vac and sol hose in,keeps my van nice and tidy,i have 2 for chems that are cable tied to each other so they don`t move around

I don't know what length you are talking about but here goes...
I use one of those giant plastic tubs (looks like a massive plant pot with two rope handles).
Due to it's round shape, it is dead easy to coil the hoses around the inside. You can use the space in the middle for upholstery tools etc.
Best thing is... it's not like wrestling with a python each time you put the hoses away!

Yes, doing it now. I will try it with the hoses later but the last time I used a technique like this involved alcohol, a sunny day and a swimming pool nearby
