Ouch!!!
« on: February 22, 2005, 05:49:03 pm »
I opened the side door on my van today to unload and and yelp!!!!
a big container of solution number 4 came out and landed on my foot, well the sky was as blue as my language, its still throbbing now 6 hours later, swollen and going blue. I hope its ok for tommorro's jobs.

I keep thinking of what my mentor Mr K Wainwright said to me
"Always think safety first" Sorry Ken, but i  forgot!!

I think a beer will sort it out!!!

I had a mishap a few months ago - very hard to explain but here goes.

My large van was squeezed onto the customers drive between two hedges.  Not much room down the side of the van.

Sliding side door on the van was open - so as you know it will stick out  few inches further than the van sides.

I squeezed down the side of the van from the rear to get the T/M to adjust the throttle or something.  I was looking towards to rear of the van but moving forwards, in the narrow gap between van and hedge.

I decided I better look fowards to see where I was going!!  As I turned my head from looking backwards to looking forwards what I didn't know that I was level with the rear edge of the sliding door.  Clobbered my nose and head on the door.

Can't remember the next few minutes - I know I didn't quite knock myself out / break my nose but I vaguely remember blood on my forehead and a swollen nose and having to sit down with a cup of tea!!

The morale is - something I should have learned years ago - LOOK where you're going - not where you've been!!

Bit like business really  ;D

Cheers
Steve

Sorry mate, couldn't resist it  ;)
I use my Solutions so much I keep by the back doors of van and they have fallen out before so I do know how easy it could happen.
Hope it don't slow you down too much  ;D

Hi Carpet Knights

How much did you pay for your van to be kitted out with Selfmaster?

Cheers Gavin

hi gavin it was about £500  :o for enough shelving to put my blower on 12 large chem bottles 6 small chem bottles and an extra shelf for bits and pieces. they are strong as anything you can jump on them and they won't budge. shelves have been galvanised and powder coated each shelf has for brackets which are about 6 mm thick and are sheridised and they adjust to the slope of your van so they are level. i know they cost alot but they're excellent quality.

Gavin

Have a look at this site

http://www.hotheatexchangers.com/vanshelving.html

Think Goron may have got it wrong galvanised and powder coated? etch and then powder coated yes, but in defence they are of excellent quality.
