Technical advice needed....
« on: February 21, 2005, 09:11:22 pm »
Evenin' all.  Have been going for about 18 months now (don't it fly??)  and am thinking about introducing myself to the local nursing homes in an attempt to swell the work and hopefully the coffers.  Exactly what technical things should I know about cc in nursing homes, as I don't want to look a wally once I finally get the attention of the manager. (i.e. what if any additional cleaning stages should I add to my usual routine, and why??)

I use an Ashbys Ninja (for now) with a built in heat exchanger.  I tend to pre-vac, spray & agitate, then HWE.  (micro-splitters)

Any advice gratefully received!!

Hi Bill

Maybe you should think about offering a deodorising or sanitizing service. Also i imagine urine smells would be an issue - how about Urine neutralization?

Prochem products are good, i use Odour Fresh,
Urine Neutralizer, also i understand a good sanitizer is Microsan effective against bacteria (including MRSA), viruses (including Hepatitis B and HIV), fungi, algae and mildew.

As Jacko said, Microsan is a seller but nursing homes are a very hard market to get into cos they gen have no standards or usually in house.

I do use Prochem Urine Neutraliser already ( lots of little kiddies around here!) but what I need is an idiots guide to cleaning a typical nursing home carpet that I can translate to a NH manager in terms of "this is what we do & why".

Have read about Microsan, and does seem an impressive product, but am unclear as to exactly what I should do with it. ( I have not yet bought any, so if the instructions on the carton are idiot proof I am sorry  ;D)

Around here ANY market is hard to get into, but effort and word of mouth is sloooowly paying off.....
