Van off the road and being a nice day decided to try something:

Bunged ladders on shoulder and went door knocking locally offering to do them there and then.

Started at 9.30 and got back indoors at 1.45 absolutely knackered but with £70 in my back pocket....yes I priced really cheap!

I didn't get 1 phone number or any names. As I walked away I just said: "I'll catch you next time I'm passing."

I got the impression people liked the "here and now" aspect of it.

Definately a great way to canvass imo

You could start a 'Diet on the ladder' show with a method like that. But seriously nice one, and good to see you trying your best while things are going against you, I really believe that’s the perseverance that it takes to run your business well.

i was watching someone today doing the same thing,they only had one ladder no car a black bucket and a back pack.The ladder looked like one you get at B&Q for sixty quid short but long enough to reach the upper windows and was using it to reach the bottom windows.

why do some people on this forum have it in for ladders?  I reckon the ladder haters have for the most part never used ladders.

I love ladders they are great, used daily by me but cheap b and q are a big NO NO.

Can we please stop having this poxy ladder vs wfp crap all the time.. cant we just advise on best working practises, give valuable advise etc..

Ladders have their place in this industry, be it just to use them for access, they just need to be used safely.

If you dont have or dont want a wfp system then fine thats your choice. But we need ladder users to use them safely, idealy be trained to use them even if you have used them for 20+ years with no accidents.

Lets stop being so negative about these types of issues.

@ simon knight, well done, you made something positive out of a negative. Id even of gone out in the rain with ladders, if its was that against daytime TV..

Totally agree when ever some said they use ladders it starts of the wfp vs ladders debate again.

I use both methods and will continue to do so i actually prefer ladders
