« on: September 18, 2008, 08:19:20 pm »
Hi everyone,

ive just started my own office and domestic cleaning company.
One of my customers have asked me if i can clean the carpets.

what would be the best cleaner to buy? would a standard cleaner do the trick?

Also were can i buy a dry carpet cleaner or the carpet cleaner which drys in 30 mins?

Hi Jana,
if you can get away with hiring one for the day to do the specific job do it thats how i started.
That way you can try out different methods before taking the plunge.
It is also about the quality of cleaning chemical that you put in the tank that makes the difference.
I have also started using the Enviro dri system and this works really well on the majority of carpets and can save alot of the back breaking work and dry v. quick.
We sell both enviro dri and Chemspec both market leaders and have used them both for years so know the pro s and cons .
Give me a ring for honest impartial advice.
We are also running a course in November for spot and stain removal if  i can be of any further help let me know.
cheers Tom

Dry cleaning = maintenance cleaning, not true extraction, we have two Speedster machines and a Hydramaster Truck mount, which is a steep investment.

High end portable will enable you to clean upholstery too, then get yourself off to the NCCA for training.

Jana,

Systems that will dry in 30 mins are only good for clean carpets.  If the carpets are dirty then the only way to clean them properly would be by Hot Water Extraction Method.  Depending on your budget i would say look at the Ashbys Ninja Extractor range.  If you want to get into the carpet cleaning in a big way then look at buying a Truckmount from the market leader "HydraMaster".  Chemical wise id get these from Prochem.

Richie.

Why don't you look at the original post. Really, does this sound like someone who intends getting into carpet cleaning " full time " or just considering the possibility of having a machine available for the odd job ?

Rather than give mis information, or prejudiced information,  from narrow viewpoints, I suggest you consider the following.

Do you really want to get into carpet cleaning
Who will do the c/cleaning for you
Have you considered that the carpet cleaning will be done separately from the other tasks, which means you will need additional transport, or have to back track, or whatever.

Of course it can be done, but just lumping it on to other cleaning tasks won't work. Not trying to put you off, just want you to think through the logistics and potential costs and the likeliehood that it will be a separate entity from your day to day activities.

If you really want to have a go.............

The suggestions above, will require an outlay from under £1k to well over £20k

And..................there are methods which will more than adequately clean carpets and have them touch dry in 30 minutes.

why dont you sub out the carpet cleaning for a while until you get the rest of the business ie the office cleaning, off the ground, one step at a time is best. take on a carpet clean and mess it up, you've lost that customer and your good name for life,

I've got  2 Stimvacs that are about 18 years old and not had any problems other than the usual replacement parts.
The Maestro is top notch. Large solution and drain tank with a good output heater built in.
Had a look at the Prochem's but they don't come with fitted heater, but as an add with an add on cost to boot.
Have always used the Prochem range so can't really comment on other chemicals but ther double clean is amazing on filthy carpets.

I had an old Stimvac until recently and wish I'd kept it to play around with.
