may i first say 'HI' to you all ,
im a newbie on this forum :
i have a window cleaning buissness in north-east england,but are now branching out to cleaning drives/patios etc....
iv cleaned a few for my custies,but now they are asking if i can do resin sealing,so i thought ..go for it,why not ,carnt be that hard to paint or roller the stuff on...CAN IT??
anyway iv learned,clean first,then let dry and on a dry day sand then seal
is they no need to pre treat before resin seal or anything......
is that right and also do i just buy  a tin of resin from builders yards etc then paint it on..
any help will be much appreciated

seal?     dry day?   ha ha ha,  no such thing,  the way the climate is changing, sealing will be a thing of the past,  i packed it in this year along with a load of others, conditions need to be perfect to a proper job and we dont get enough of those days to do the jobs. stick to the cleaning instead matey.

switch them to marshalls joint stabilizer, its your only hope. you wont screw it up if its damp and it will be cheaper for customer. weedkill first though and tell them to water with sodium chlorate to keep weeds at bay every couple of months.

cnc, listen to steve,  sealing using acrylics and resins is getting harder by the day with the damp all year round weather.  there are very few days suitable in the summer especially if you have a list to do. even when conditions are right there are chances of comebacks etc.  non of them last as long as they should and they are expensive. i can see a few sealing companies going bust!   clean the driveway, apply weedkiller,  allow to dry fully then sand and throw some keybond down to harden the sand, its much cheaper and quicker.  2 years ago i had around 20 or more sealing jobs to do, but what a load of hassle, no good weather, had to buy it all in first, ringing customers every 5 mins saying sorry cant do it now its to damp.   no way anymore!  good luck mate.

just been to look at resin block,nealy 50 pound for 5ltrs :ocoveres 10m2
never knew it was so expensive,
yep yeah right drive s mate,can hardly get my window rounds done these days wot with the rain 
be even harder to wait for a dry day to do a resin job man.....

It can be got at travis perkins, they will list it at about £50, but dont panic,  just tell them you normally pay about £34 inc vat. they will discount it, not sure why they price it up like they do but have always reduced it for me.

Alternatively i think some one said they had seen it a focus or wickes for about £30.

going to do my first 1 tommorow mate,cleaned it last week,

been to travis perkins and they got there own make sealer 5ltrs for 22 pound...
or stuff for 42 pound,one coat gear,
might go for the 22pound stuff
was going to do the job today,but forcast rain so decided to hit the windows until the rain come,but it never did ::)SODS LAW....

Looks a good company ,would you pay the extra for the ultra or is the super ok.Like the way you can use it on all types of surface so it`s simplified.Might get a tub and do my own house next spring like as i doubt we`ll be getting any sealing weather again this year,how many dry days do you need before you can chance sealing and how long after sealing do you need it to be dry.Thanks Dan

The ultra is for very dense material that standard resin won't adhere to. EG clay paviors, slate etc standard resin would de laminate and look "salty" after a few days.
However you can use ultra on everything it may be worth the extra small cost to only have one product in stock as you can end up with part tubs of each

Drying depends on the layout etc low lying jobs in shade can take ages, on the other hand surfaces higher than the surrounding area can dry quite quickly. I would say at least 24 hours then try sanding it if the sand pulls moisture up from the sub base then you cant seal it as the sand is already filled up so to speak with water so it wont take any resin whisc is the object of the exercise!
Some sealers do jobs with a couple of damp spots in bad places but are quite wiling to go back in later weks to re do the bad joints when its dry. This weather they have got to get some money in from somwhere, so adopt this policy if the initial price is a good un!

Speak to these guys in Bolton they offer on the job training it is very good and covers all aspects from getting work to cleaning then sealing both pic and paviors
